Josie Farala Farin, loving and devoted wife and mother, passed away on March 24, 2012.

She was born on January 2, 1957 in San Narciso, Zambales, Philippines to Petronilo and Filipina Farala and lived a life filled with love, laughter, and happiness.

After graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Magsaysay Memorial College in Zambales, Philippines, Josie taught at Simminublan Elementary School in Philippines for five years. Inspired to pursue the American Dream along with her husband, Romulo Farin, Josie immigrated to the United States on July 4, 1982. Josie and Romulo first settled in Vallejo, California, but Romulo's career in the Navy transferred the couple to Port Hueneme Naval Base, and shortly after, they decided to make their permanent home in Oxnard.

Josie's work ethic is visible in the highly-skilled job positions she held since making her life in the United States. She has worked at companies such as Maywood Acres Healthcare, in addition to government offices supporting the military, such as Cam-Air, Metters, Sverdrup Technology, and most recently, Rome Research. Josie also returned to school for additional computer training.

Josie's many hobbies included cooking and gardening, and she especially loved orchids. She also enjoyed shopping, singing, traveling, spending time with family and friends, and loved watching her TV shows on The Filipino Channel (TFC) and The Food Network. In addition, Josie was an active member of the Filipino organization, Zambales Association of Ventura County.

As the eldest child of seven, family had always been important to her. Josie's family admired her for her kind heart, for being dependable, supportive, and generous. She was truly her family's hero and inspiration. She will be greatly missed by all who have been fortunate to know her.
Josie leaves behind her husband of over 30 years, Romulo Farin; her children, Karen and Jonathan; her parents, Petronilo Sr. and Filipina Farala; siblings Amor Farala, Peter Farala, Tessie Feria, George Farala, Vic Farala, and Gina Farala.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 9pm on Thursday, April 12, and Friday, April 13 at Funeraria Del Angel Conrad's & James Reardon, 401 W. Channel Islands Blvd., Oxnard. Funeral mass will be at 9am on Saturday, April 14, at Mary Star of the Sea Church, 463 W. Pleasant Valley Rd., Oxnard. www.funerariadelangeloxnard.com
