I knew Joyce a little through her store Wood 'n Things, but I really got to know her when she moved into the Hayward Nursing Home, now Water's Edge Care Center. My aunt Laura also was a resident there, so I often visited both of them. Joyce was a warm and friendly person, and I feel I am a better person having known her. Even when she wasn't feeling well, she always had a smile for me. What a great lady!

So sorry to hear about your mom. I remember her being so nice and friendly, when we were growing up. I just recently lost both my parents, so I know how you feel.

Dear Claudia, Ann, Paul, Jack, Tom and Scott,
A part of my childhood ended with your Mom's passing. Joyce and George were a part of my life for 55 years. Some memories...what was better than living next door to the "Archway Cookie man"? Your Dad generously shared what was behind those garage doors with our family. When I wanted to do a paint-by-number of The Last Supper for my parents, your Mom set me up in a bedroom (for weeks!) and I was able to keep it a secret until Christmas. I was introduced to Chinese food when our moms worked at House of Jean. Who can forget our dads in their VFW uniforms, marching in yearly parades? Or relaxing in lawn chairs on the driveway with a cool beer? Or the many cups of tea our moms shared? I was so honored when Joyce insisted that I call her by her first name, although she had to work to convince my mom it really was OK! All the other moms were "Mrs.", but she was my friend Joyce. And I will always be grateful that despite the miles, Joyce never forgot her friend Dorothy. Her visits blessed Mom at a very difficult time.
It was good to see all of you last week. The service was lovely, and Amy and Chris did beautifully.
I was able to visit Jean and give her the memorial card. She remembered our family and we had a lovely visit.
With love,
Maureen

"I learned of Joyce's passing today as I read the Hayward paper. I am sorry I missed her services. My sympathy and condolences to all of you, her family. At one time, throughout the time I worked for Joyce at Wood N' Things and through St. Joseph's Church, I met almost all of you. I remember how close Joyce and Amy were, remembering Girl Scouts and Kindergarten. Joyce was so good to all of us at Wood N' Things and such a wonderful person to share her love of music with at church.

We in the St. Joseph church were privileged to have Joyce share her gift of music with us. I believe that she is now playing more gloriously than ever as she enjoys her heavenly inheritance.

Claudia, Paul, Ann, Jack, Scott, and Tom,
What wonderful memories we have of S. 5th Place, Archway Cookies, and Hayward visits! How blessed we are to have had our lives touched by your mom. I am so glad I was able to hold her hand and tell her I loved her two weeks ago. Our family is so grateful for her constant care and concern for our mom. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful role model with us. She will live on in all that she shared with each of us. And remember, they are drinking tea and talking about us!
Much love, Patty

What happy memories our family has of Joyce. We shared the good times and the bad times together. Thanks to Joyce I learned to play bridge and still playing it. Also still have her grandmas sugar cookie recipe. It was a sad time when they moved to Wis. as it left a void in the neighborhood. Our sympathy goes out to all her family.
