On November 1, 1954 the love of her life, son Jerry Don, was born and through adoption they were a family of three. Tragically, on October 5th, 1980, Jerry a DPS officer was killed in the line of duty. On May 19, 1998, after. 55 years of marriage, her husband J.D. died. Her brother Darius precede her in death also. Joyce is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Through life's tough lessons Joyce remained a strong Christian lady, also fun loving and quick witted. She loved music, Elvis, and traveling.

Joyce was a "mom" to many of her nieces and nephews throughout the years, they described her as caring, giving, and always there for them, enhancing their lives immeasurably. Joyce lived her life as God's true meaning of what a Proverbs 31 woman would live.

Joyce worked at Dayton Parker Drugstore in Tahoka, and sold in insurance in Lubbock and also worked for LISD.

Visitation will be at Resthaven Funeral home from 5:00-7:00 on Friday, funeral services will be at Resthaven's Abbey Chapel at 1:00 on Saturday. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Special thanks to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Corporal John Gonzales, Randi Haggard, Kathy Harbert, and the doctors and nurses at Covenant Hospital ER and South 8.
