Joyce Marie Fortson, 75, of DeLand passed away peacefully on November 30, 2016 in Halifax Health Hospice of Orange City. Joyce was born on March 21, 1941 in Cincinnati, Ohio; the daughter of Paul and Edna Mae Gorman. She married her husband James E. Fortson, who preceded her in death in 2009. She was a homemaker. Her family was most important to her.
Joyce leaves behind to cherish her memory seven children, daughters Doranda Morris (Gene), Denise Schneider (Martin), Andrea Argue, Dannielle Mott, sons James Fortson Jr. (Dorothy), John Fortson Sr. (Brenda), and Kevin Fortson (Alison), 22 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, brothers Donald Gorman Sr., Daniel Gorman Sr., Wayne Gorman Sr., Paul Gorman Jr., Joseph Gorman Sr., sisters Paulette McKinnon and Kelly Mota; as well as countless nieces and nephews and extended family. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, and daughter Joyce Marie Roszell.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 6, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Baldwin-Fairchild Oaklawn Chapel, 5000 County Road 46A, Sanford FL. 32771. Mass will take place Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at 10:00 am at All Souls Historic Chapel downtown Sanford. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Park Cemetery, Sanford Florida.
