Mrs. Joyce Cordell age 82, of Brentwood, TN, went to be with the Lord peacefully on Monday, March 23, 2015, at her residence following an extended illness.
She retired from the State of TN after thirty-five years of faithful service and beloved by all of those who she met. Joyce was a beautiful, caring, and faithful Christian. She was highly thought of in the community. Joyce was a faithful member of Concord Road Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Cordell of Naples, FL and Ken Cordell of Brentwood, TN; two sisters, Virginia Layne of Nashville, TN and Katherine Townes of Brentwood, TN; three brothers, Raymond Davis of Hermitage, TN, Bobby Davis of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Billy Davis of Indianapolis, Indiana; grandson, Taylor Cordell; and two nieces, Peggy McNamee and Janet Campbell. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, March 26, 2015, at ten o'clock in the morning at Brentwood-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home with Brother Dan Chambers officiating. Interment will follow in Thompson/Webb Cemetery in Pearidge, TN, at approximately one thirty in the afternoon.
Family and friends will gather Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at four o'clock in the afternoon until eight o'clock in the evening at Brentwood-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home.

I love my mother as she was always my guardian angel. I miss her every hour of every day. She is with me in spirit. my mother is with God now in a better place as she looks down and makes sure we carry on her beautiful life on earth.

My mother was such a joy to be around and a saint of a person i miss her greatley my mother was community minded also having paticipated in heart drives and PTA functions in the 60s I was with her evryday for 5 and one half years and wathced alzheimers take her away but she was a fighter to the end and we will always miss her SHE WAS A JOY TO OUR WORLD

Robert and Ken - I was very saddened to learn of Verneal's passing. She was always such a vibrant, bright face in the TWRA Wildlife Division for many years - typified by the memorial picture of her in this book. She was a sweet Christian woman and is dearly missed.
