Joyce A. Allbrook lost her ten year battle with Alzheimer's disease on Saturday afternoon, October 13, 2012. Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 20, at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Moriah and Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd, Kansas City, MO, 64131. Inurnment in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Her battle was filled with love, courage, and grace. Joyce was an extremely loving wife, mother, and grandmother and a very kind hearted friend who touched so many hearts. Her unforgettable smile and laughter will be dearly missed. Joyce dearly loved children, the ocean, and both her poodle Angel, and shiatsu Sissy. She will be dearly missed by all of her family and those who knew her. Joyce will live forever in our hearts and prayers. Joyce was preceded in death by her son John Kevin Schaaf and her husband Michael Allbrook. She is survived by her brother Jerry Gardner and wife Wanda of Huntsville, TX; sons Robert Schaaf and wife Vickie of Lee's Summit, MO and Niles Schaaf and wife Crystal of Blue Springs, MO.; three stepchildren Michael W. Allbrook and Margaret Rich of Fremont, CA, David A. Allbrook and Gendy of Colorado Springs, CO, Pat Bates and Dr. Dean Jernigan; five grandchildren Bryan, Brent, Brandon, Tyler and T.J. Schaaf; and four great-grandchildren Alexandra, Cale, Sofia, and Greyson Schaaf. Special thanks to Niles and Crystal Schaaf for their special care and accommodations made for Joyce. The family would also like to thank all of the health care providers at Senior Helpers and Southern Care Hospice. Joyce was an amazing women, with a wonderful, loving and supportive family. She was truly blessed beyond measure. I am thankful to have known her, even if it was only for a brief moment.

Joyce was a loving mother, grandmother, stepmother and wife to Mike when He was alive. She gave so much more than she got, and shared her sunny outlook with everyone--strangers as well as friends & family.
