She was a dear mother to Susan (Jim) Gartin, Elizabeth (David) Kirbach, Gretchen (Raymond) Francini, and William (Rhonda) Kerr. She was blessed with 7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Joyce was born to Goodloe and Esther Rogers on July 28, 1924 in Pontiac, MI and preceded to graduate from Pontiac High School. From there she was off the University of Michigan and was an avid "Go Blue" fan to the end! One of her favorite memories was riding the train to the Rose Bowl with her family and the team. It was at U of M she met the love of her life, her husband, Mike, of what would have been 65 years. Beyond U of M sports, Joyce was an avid Tigers fan in her last days she was upset the Tigers traded Austin Jackson. She always had "the" game on. Joyce had a deep love for northern Michigan, especially Mackinaw City where she had been summering since 1925. Joyce made her mark playing bridge; she loved her game and her friends. She was always up for a game and grateful for the time with her friends. She also loved winning and had a jar with her winning quarters; she will be remembered for bringing chocolate to all the games. What was paramount to Joyce was her family; she cherished her time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. On her 90th birthday everyone gathered around her bedside and she was able to see the whole gang. Joyce will be deeply missed by all she touched. Visitation will be held Saturday, August 9, 2014 at 10:00 AM at the Franklin Community Church 26425 Wellington Road, Franklin, MI until the time of service at 11:00. In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution can be made in Joyce's name to Paws with a Cause (supporting working dogs for those in need)4646 S Division Wayland, MI 49348 www.pawswithacause.org or DEAF C.A.N.
