McCREADIE, Joyce Kathleen (Abbott)
Passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family on Tuesday November 7, 2017 in her 85th year after a courageous battle. Joyce was a fighter till the very end. Beloved wife and best friend of her late husband Jack and cherished and devoted mother of Craig, Dean (Lisa), Blair (Mieke) and Lisa (Bill). Grandma to Duncan, Mason, Melissa, Garrett, Madeleine, Tristan, Meghan and Brady. Joyce will be forever missed and loved. Memories include her 'tell it like it is' personae which she came by very honestly, as well as her ability to stretch a nickel and get change in return. She will also always be remembered fondly as someone who loved her garden more than anything, provided it didn't get in the way of her next tennis match. Joyce had many friends and a great sense of humour with a special ability to laugh at herself. She was an animal lover with exceptional fondness for her girls Misty, Killer and Chelsea (who helped her cope with the loss of Jack).
A special thanks to all the people at the Lakeridge Health Cancer Clinic and Palliative Care unit as well as the amazing people at Community Care Durham and VHA Home Healthcare who cared for Joyce over the past number of weeks. Visitation will be held at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) on November 17th, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral services will be held at COLUMBUS COMMUNITY UNITED CHURCH, (3285 Simcoe Street North) on November 18th, at 11:30.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please make a donation on behalf of Joyce to Columbus Community United Church.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your Mom. You may remember me as your babysitter, living right next door - daughter of Art and Nyla Kell, longtime neighbors of your family on Redcastle. Having lost my Mom & Dad too, I know how difficult it is. My heart goes out to you and your families at this very sad time.
Although it has been many years since I have seen your Mom, I have very fond memories of your family. I am sure that the many grandchildren that she was blessed with brought great joy into her life.

I know Joyce from the Whitby Seniors Tennis Club and I had the pleasure of playing mixed doubles tennis with her over the past few summers. Joyce was very kind to me and I enjoyed getting to know her. I will miss you on the courts Joyce. May you rest in peace.
