Joyce was born August 3, 1925 in Rawson, North Dakota, and lived a long and rich life. After graduating from the University of Minnesota in 1949 with a degree in Journalism, she worked at various times for the Federal Bureau of Investigation, for the U.S. Embassy in Venezuela, and for the then newly-created U.S. Army Special Services Agency in Germany and later the United States. She met her husband David while serving as Director of Special Services at Fort Bliss, Texas. They married in August of 1962 and spent the next half century traveling, raising six children, and loving each other.

"I have known Mrs. Park since I was 11 years old and I would consider myself a part of the Park family since I was 15 years old when I became best friends..." Amy Hunter Pisciotta
