Joyce Faye Kipp Smith, Age 77, passed away Monday morning, August 6, 2012 in Austin, TX. Joyce was born to Adolph and Annie Kipp in Giddings, TX on September 21, 1934. She moved to Austin around 1950 where she met her future husband Freddie. During their nearly 59 years of marriage they raised 3 children and travelled to 48 of the states in their motorhome attending Winnebago and Good Sam rallies. They saw friends in Iowa on several occasions and of all the locations they visited, Catalina Island was her very favorite. They also made yearly trips to the Rio Grande Valley. Joyce was born to Adolph and Annie Kipp in Giddings, TX on September 21, 1934. She moved to Austin around 1950 where she met her future husband Freddie. During their nearly 59 years of marriage they raised 3 children and travelled to 48 of the states in their motorhome attending Winnebago and Good Sam rallies. They saw friends in Iowa on several occasions and of all the locations they visited, Catalina Island was her very favorite. They also made yearly trips to the Rio Grande Valley. Joyce was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking for her family, holidays, and spending time with her friends. She especially loved being with her 2 granddaughters who were the joy of her life. She was an avid reader and still took the time to send handwritten letters.
Joyce is survived by her husband Freddie J. Smith of Austin, daughter Barbara Smith Agnew of Pflugerville, sons Robert Smith of Austin and Brian Smith of Pflugerville, and 2 granddaughters, Julia Smith and Gabrielle Smith. She is also survived by 1 brother, Billy Kipp of Houston, and sisters Ruby Baack of Abilene and Janet Foehr of Manor and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family on Wednesday, the 8th of August, from 6 o'clock until 8 o'clock in the evening; a rosary will be recited at seven o'clock that evening at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Blvd. Austin, Texas, 78752.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, the 9th of August, at 10 o'clock in the morning, at St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church, 10205 N FM 620, Austin, Texas, 78726.
