Joyce was born on July 26, 1931 to Edna and Richard Dingler in Clarendon, Texas. Joyce was one of six sisters and one brother. All of the family spent their time working on the family farm and this would become a source of many fond memories for Joyce as she grew older. On August 14, 1953, Joyce married Bobby Lynn Watkins in Amarillo, Texas. The couple began their lives in Amarillo, Texas. They moved to Andrews, Texas when Bobby finished his military career. After her retirement, she remained active through volunteer work with the Auxiliary at Medical Center Hospital. She also became very active in her church, Second Baptist of Odessa. Joyce incorporated her love of sewing in every aspect of her life. She sewed quilts with her Sunday School class, she made clothes for her children and grandchildren, and she passed on her love for sewing to many around her. Joyce and Bobby remained inseparable until his passing in 1994. Joyce remained devoted and faithful to her husband even after his passing.
