Juan L. Navarro, 57, of Westbrook, CT lost his battle with leukemia and passed away on November 22, 2013 surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Lucy Navarro, loving father of Jessica Bielawski and her fiancée, William Harris III of Westbrook, Monica Nunes and her husband, Edgar of Middletown and Christine Huskes and her husband, Mathias of Meriden. He leaves brother of Juan Pablo Navarro & Juan Manuel Navarro and their families of Puerto Rico. Juan was also survived by his three cherished grandchildren Madison, Owen and Patrick, He leaves his mother in law, Stefania Marcisz in New Britain, his brother in law, Marek Koza and his wife, Margaret of Meriden and his German Shepherd Roxie.
Juan was born in Bronx New York on August 31 1956, son of the late Juan Manuel Navarro and Nilda LaPalme. As a young man, He proudly served in the United States Army and the United States Air Force. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a Detective for the Meriden Police Department for 25 years. Juan also worked as Agent Supervisor for the Department of Motor Vehicle and was a Security Officer for the Masonicare Home in Wallingford. Juan was a parishioner of St. Mark Parish in Westbrook. He was a proud Master Mason of Meridian Lodge #77, A.F. & A.M. and Past Right Worshipful District Deputy of the Grand Lodge, A.F. & A.M. He was a member of the Elks for 26 years, the Shriners, the American legion and he was a past president of the Blue Knights, chapter 1 in Connecticut.
Juan was a man who lived life to the fullest, his mission in life was helping anyone who needed a helping hand. He volunteered anywhere he was needed and never turned down a request for help. He loved his job, his friends and the community, but his greatest joy was being with his family.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, November 26 from 4pm-8pm at New Britain Memorial-Sagarino Funeral home at 444 Farmington Avenue, New Britain.(Directions, Exit 37 off I-84 take a right at the exit, 1 ½ miles on your right.)
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 27th at 10: am at Sacred Heart Church, 158 Broad St. New Britain.
Burial with military honors and Masonic Ceremony will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Memorial donations can be made in his honor to the Shriners Children's Hospital online at www.shrinershospital for children.org

I had the pleasure of working with Juan at the DMV. He was the person who always lit up any roon he walked into. You were always guarenteed to smile /laugh within moments of speaking to him. Juan always made a difference by doing and going, even before the the request was completed.
Our time together was way too short but I will continue to remember your smile and the happyness you brought to those you met.
