Juanita (Thompson) Rentschler, 81, of East Lansing, MI, passed peacefully in her sleep on July 25, 2014. She was born on December 10, 1932, in rural
central Georgia. Affectionately known as "Skeeter," she followed her heart to East Lansing, where she married in 1957.

She was preceded in death by her husband, true love and worldwide travel companion Robert.Skeeter was a longtime member and volunteer at The Peoples Church in East Lansing. She retired from Michigan State University in 1993 after 35 years of nursing others at the University's Olin Health Center.
Appropriately, the fourth Thursday of November, Thanksgiving Day, was her favorite day of the year, where her values of kindness, inclusion and service to family and friends were on full display. She had close and long-time friendships that kept her anchored to the MSU community where she spent her retirement. She was a scratch cook, and many old-time dessert recipes will pass with her.

She is survived by her son Bob of Dearborn, MI; son Randy and daughter-in-law Rosemary of Alameda, CA; her sisters, Ramona "Tupie" Winn and
Barry Standard; her brother, John Thompson; and two grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 20th at 1pm at The Peoples Church, East Lansing. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make donations may give in her name to the MSU Children's Garden, Department of Horticulture, Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI 48824, or The Peoples Church, 200 W. Grand River Ave., East Lansing, MI, 48823.

The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, East Lansing. On line condolences may be shared with the family at www.greastlansing.com.
