Juanita Mills Williams was born on November 1, 1928 to Roy Lee & Freddie S Mills in Abilene, Tx. Nita graduated from Abilene High School in 1946 and went straight to work. She became an accomplished professional, fulfilling the typically male-dominated position of oil company draftsman with Texaco in the 1950's, and subsequently with the Dodge McGraw Plan Room until her retirement in 1990. Somehow during her busy schedule, she managed to earn an Associate's degree in Business from Cisco Junior College and later, attended classes at Hardin Simmons University, coming within a few hours of completing a degree in Business Administration.
On February 21, 1957, Nita married the love of her life, Jack S. Williams, Sr. After many happy years, he preceded her in death on February 15, 2007, one week shy of their 50th wedding anniversary.
Her interests and hobbies include; her large family and all aspects of their well-being; cooking- She was the very best cook ever and could feed a crowd ten courses with just an hour's notice; gardening- She could resuscitate any shriveled plant and her tomato vines independently revive each spring, hearty from the previous year's care; reading extensively; and her small dogs, or rather, her surrogate children. She was very creative and was active in the Abilene Garden Club and within her church.
Left to mourn the loss but celebrate the life of "Omah" are her daughter, Melissa Ellis and husband Ken of Lubbock; her son, Jack S. Williams, Jr. and wife, Kathy of Abilene; her son, Rex D. Williams, of Abilene; eight grandchildren, whom she adored; nine great-grands who kept her laughing; and her sister, Viola Cargile of Abilene; her sister-in-law, Ruth Williams of Victoria, TX. Also survived by two canine companions, Sydney Jolene and Rowdy.
