Judith LATTER Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 7, 2017.

Judith Claire Latter, 79, of Vancouver WA passed away on September 4, 2017 after a long and courageous battle with a multitude of health issues.
Judy was born on November 13, 1937 in Delmont SD. Judy married Thomas E. Latter on May 3, 1959, and together they had 3 children; John T. Latter, Robert W. Latter (Katherine), and Beth A. White. Judy was adored by all of her 8 Grandchildren; Gabriel Latter, David Mackenzie, Joshua Latter, Michael Latter, Thomas Latter, Zoe Porter, Anna Latter, and Halle Porter.
Judy enjoyed a very close relationship with her siblings, and when the 5 of them got together they were in a World of their own with so much laughter and singing; it was a joy to watch and be a part of the Love they shared. Judy was the oldest of the 5 siblings and taught them all many life lessons that only the eldest child of a Pastor could do; showing them how to get into the parsonage communal wine was but one of many shenanigans she initiated. Judy is survived by her siblings; Ruth Arnold, Ted Wieting, Robert Wieting, and Susan DeJonge. I know the singing and laughter will continue when they are all together again in Heaven. Judy is also survived by her wonderful sister-in-law Patricia Mead, and many nephews, nieces that all adore her.
Judy was an accomplished RN, and earned her Diploma in Nursing in 1959 from Mary Lanning School of Nursing. She had a long career spanning 45 years of nursing; beginning that career at Kearney County Health Services in Minden NE. In 1973 Judy and husband Tom moved with their 3 kids to the Portland OR area where she continued to enjoy a successful nursing career at; Portland Medical Center as Director of Nursing services, Emanual Hospital, the Red Cross, and Powellhurst Nursing home.
In her spare time, Judy was passionate about painting and was quite accomplished. Also "Thrifting", crocheting, collecting hats, singing in church, and mostly her Family.
Judy was a devoted Lutheran, and came from a lineage of Lutheran Ministers including her Paternal Grand Father, and her Father Theodore Wieting. Nobody was more proud of their heritage. Mom was known best for attending church services in beautiful clothes with matching shoes, purse, and most of all a Hat to finish her look.
Judy was preceded in death by her Parents, Brother in Law Dan Arnold, Sister in Law Marilyn Wieting, and Nephew Scott Arnold. We are comforted that she is no longer in pain and has joined beloved family and friends in Heaven.
Judy will be missed immeasurably, we now have a large void that she once filled. But we are comforted in the fact that we will see her again in Heaven.
