Judith Feld Lauterbach passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2014, surrounded by loving family after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer's Disease. Judy is survived by her loving husband, Bernie Lauterbach, their four children: Barbara Loeser, Steve Lauterbach (Ann), Amy Kinkade (Chris), and Debby Robalin (Mike), eleven grandchildren: Sarah Kass (Lawrence), Becky Blumberg (Justin), Capt. Kyle Lauterbach, Rachel Slaton (Richard), Kate Lauterbach, Carly Robalin, Phillip Lauterbach, Casey Kinkade, Amanda Robalin, Shelby Robalin, and Halle Lauterbach; four great-grandchildren: Lacey and Aiden Kass and Owen and Shayna Blumberg, her brother, George Feld and seven nieces and nephews.
Judy was born on December 25, 1925 in Brooklyn, New York. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Ruth Feld, and her sister, Shirlee Scharf. Judy was a graduate of the City College of New York with a degree in Merchandising, and worked as a fine jewelry buyer for a major department store in New York City. Her cousin, Dan Rotto, introduced her to Bernie Lauterbach, the love of her life. Judy and Bernie married on September 4, 1949 in New York, and after the birth of their first child, relocated to El Paso, where Bernie became a partner in the CPA firm now known as Lauterbach, Borschow and Company.
Judy was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who delighted in hosting all of the family gatherings. She loved being surrounded by her family and had a special relationship with each family member. Each year, her children and grandchildren congregated in El Paso to celebrate holidays, vacations, and her birthday. While raising her family, Judy also found time to serve her community. She was a Past President of Temple Mount Sinai Sisterhood and a volunteer reader at Lighthouse for the Blind. With her children and grandchildren, Judy delivered meals to El Pasoans in need.
Judy retained her loving and affectionate nature throughout the challenges of her disease. Judy and Bernie's devotion to one another is the greatest gift they could give to their children and grandchildren.
Judy lived her last years with dignity thanks to her loving and attentive family and compassionate caregivers: Martha Gonzales, Genoveva Santillanes, Juanita Rodriguez, Maria Soriano, Sol Celeste Veliz, and Lucy Portillo. The family also thanks Dr. Branch Craige for his long-time attention and care. Donations in Judy's memory may be made to Temple Mt. Sinai, the or a charity of your choice.
A graveside service will take place at Temple Mt. Sinai Cemetery on Friday, July 25, 2014 at 11:00 a.m.
