JUDSON ROBERT WOOD died in Dallas, TX on the 15th day of November 2013. He is survived by his three sons, Judson Robert Wood Jr. and wife Linda of Flower Mound, Texas, Wright Matthews Wood and wife Elizabeth of The Hills, Texas, and John Charles Wood of the April Sound Community of Lake Conroe, Texas; six grandchildren, Kirsten, Truett, and Heidi Wood of Flower Mound, Texas, and Jackson, Grayson, and Gabrielle Wood of The Hills, Texas; one brother, Ralph Wood of Dallas, Texas.

Judson was born on the 21st day of July 1928, in Sherman, Texas, to the marriage of James Ralph and Kathleen Cook Wood. Judson was a 1945 graduate of Highland Park High School, a 1949 BBA graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, and a 1951 LLB graduate of The University of Texas Law School. Judson pledged the Phi Delta Theta fraternity and was enrolled in the Phi Delta Phi honorary legal fraternity.

Judson began the general practice of law with the firm of Scurry, Scurry and Pace in Dallas, which was interrupted by a call to duty from the United States Army. Judson honorably served in the United States Army as a First Lieutenant in the Judge Advocates General Corps from 1952 to 1954. Judson re-joined the Dallas law firm of Scurry, Scurry & Pace in 1955 and married Dallas debutante Nancy Matthews in 1957, who passed away in 2007. They had three sons. Judson joined the Houston law firm of Vinson & Elkins in 1957 and remained with them until his retirement in December 1992. Judson was active mainly as a trial lawyer in V&E's insurance defense practice. He was a member of the Texas Association of Defense Counsel, a Sustaining Life Member of the Houston Bar Association and Texas Bar Association, and was elected to membership in the American Board of Trial Advocates.

Judson was a member of the Idlewild, Terpsichorean and Calyx social clubs. Judson belonged to numerous clubs in the Houston area: the Houston Racquet Club, the Houston Club, the Briar Club and the downtown Kiwanis Club.

A lifelong Methodist, Judson was an active member of the Westminster United Methodist Church in Houston, serving as Chairman of the Finance committee and the Pastor Parish Relations committee. Judson was president of the Men's and Fishermen clubs, served on the administrative board of St. Paul's Methodist Church and was twice a delegate to the Texas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.
