AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mrs. Judy Roberts Baker of Augusta, entered into rest Thursday, May 5, 2011 at Stevens Park Health and Rehabilitation Center in Augusta. She is survived by her husband, Robert A. Baker; one daughter, Jayne Kirkpatrick of Augusta; two sons, Ben Swain (Cyndy) McElmurray III of Augusta and Joe (Deanna) McElmurray of Grovetown; three stepdaughters, Lisa (Gil) Eaves of North Augusta, Suzanne (Carl) Corley of Martinez and Lindsey (Lance) Catchot of Ocean Springs, Miss.; one stepson, Robert Alan Baker, Jr. of Evans; one sister, Janelle (Louis) Walker of Augusta; two brothers, Bill and Gilbert Roberts of Chattanooga, TN;...
AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mrs. Judy Roberts Baker of Augusta, entered into rest Thursday, May 5, 2011 at Stevens Park Health and Rehabilitation Center in Augusta. She is survived by her husband, Robert A. Baker; one daughter, Jayne Kirkpatrick of Augusta; two sons, Ben Swain (Cyndy) McElmurray III of Augusta and Joe (Deanna) McElmurray of Grovetown; three stepdaughters, Lisa (Gil) Eaves of North Augusta, Suzanne (Carl) Corley of Martinez and Lindsey (Lance) Catchot of Ocean Springs, Miss.; one stepson, Robert Alan Baker, Jr. of Evans; one sister, Janelle (Louis) Walker of Augusta; two brothers, Bill and Gilbert Roberts of Chattanooga, TN; stepmother, Fran Roberts of Lookout Mountain, TN; and fourteen grandchildren, each of whom was a special joy to her. Mrs. Baker grew up on Lookout Mountain, TN, graduated from Girls' Preparatory School in Chattanooga and attended the University of Georgia in Athens where she was a member of Phi Mu Sorority. In Augusta, Mrs. Baker was active in the community and an avid tennis player and bridge player. During the seventies, she was a realtor with Trotter Realty. Mrs. Baker and her husband, Bobby, moved to Sea Pines at Hilton Head Island, SC in 1993 where she continued her community activities as well as her bridge and tennis. In Hilton Head, she was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, The Order of the Daughters of the King and was a Stephen Minister. In 2008, Mrs. Baker and her husband returned to Augusta to be closer to all their children and grandchildren. Mrs. Baker was a member of the Augusta Country Club and Saint Paul's Episcopal Church. The family is thankful for and appreciative of the care, support and kindness shown by the staff of Stevens Park Health and Rehabilitation Center. A memorial service will be held 11 AM, Monday, May 9, 2011 at Saint Paul's Episcopal Church with The Reverend Dr. Richard Sanders and The Rev. Jim Silcox officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
