Julie T. Amey, 90, of Blue Bell died Thursday April 3nd.

She was born to the late Joseph and Setliania Valkusky, August 1923, in Drifton, PA.

The last survivor of the 8 Valkusky children, Julie was the first and only one in her family to graduate from Drifton High School in 1941.

She married the late Joseph A. McCarthy in 1942. Together they had one daughter, the late Margret Thatcher. They adored each other and were happily married for 20 years until Joe's death in 1962.

In 1965 Julie married her beloved husband the late Dr. William G. Amey. They remained married until his death in 1994. They lived many of their years together in West Palm Beach Florida. Her greatest passion was ballroom dancing and she spent much of her time doing the rumba and tango at the Elk's club. She also gave her time after Bill's death to volunteering for the Hospice group that gave him such wonderful care during his illness.

After Bill's death she relocated to Blue Bell, Pa to be closer to her dearly loved granddaughters, Lisa Abdelsalam and husband Mohamed, Colmar; and Linda Robins and husband Kevin; Lower Gwynedd and her 7 great grandchildren; Yoseph, Sophia, Sean, Kelsey, Shannon, Mikey, and Maria.
Julie is also survived by her stepson, Michael Amey and his wife Betsy; stepdaughter Kathy Shelton and her husband Tom, and grand children, Kate. John, Michael, and Karla, all of Baltimore whom she loved very much.

All Julie's life family really did mean everything to her. Julie is also survived by her much-loved grandchildren Neal and Joanne Curley and her great granddaughter, Sara Curley.

Julie will be laid to rest in a private graveside burial in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Norristown. Julie lived a full life filled with love, travel, dancing, and laughter. She was ready to be free from dementia and anxious to get back to the dance.

Arrangements under the direction of Wm. Rowen Grant Funeral Home Inc., Southampton, PA.
