Julius Richard Schmidt (1998-2012)
Julius Richard Schmidt was born August 5th, 1998 to Michael and Rosanna Schmidt in Eugene Oregon. He joined his older brother Roman Schmidt to complete the family. He died September 8th, 2012 at age 14 in a train accident in Junction City.
He lived in Cheshire, OR with his Mother, Brother, Uncle Matthew Logan and Grandparents Ben and Jeannie Logan. He was an eighth grader at Oaklea Middle School. At age 3 he watched the movie Spiderman and loved it so much that he wore a Spiderman costume for 5 years. He loved drawing, art, animals, and was an avid 4- wheeler bobsledder. At age 11, his Uncle Stephen Klemmer gave him his 1st skateboard. That same year he entered his first skate competition through Eugene Parks and Recreation. Skateboarding was his passion. His favorite skateboarder was Torey Pudwill and his favorite local boarder was Justin James of Tactics Board Shop. This summer he was lucky enough to get to go to skate camp with Justin and the others from the River House. He skated throughout OR and WA. He said that this was the best summer of his life. Skating, hanging out with friends, laughing with his family, and listening to Bob Marley were his favorite things to do.
He is survived by his Mother and Brother: Rosanna and Roman Schmidt of Cheshire, OR; his father Michael Schmidt of Salem, OR; Stepfather Richard Greene, Hilo, HI; grandparents Ben and Jeannie Logan of Cheshire, OR; Uncle Matt Logan of Cheshire, OR; Aunt, Uncle and Cousin Rachel, Stephen, and Elijah Klemmer of Eugene, OR; Great-Grandparents: Jim and Marylee Bohrer of Eugene, OR; Uncle: Erik Hendrickson of Houston, TX; Great-Grandma: Toni Hendrickson of Veneta, OR; Great-Grandparents: Claude and Nora Smith of Eugene, OR; Uncle, Aunt and Cousins: Zeke, Sara, Micha, Jarin, and Hannah Schmidt of Eugene, OR; Uncle, Aunt, and Cousins: Chay, Tracy, Dustyn, and Deuce Schmidt of Oakdale, CA.
