Karen Sue McCown went home to be with the LORD in the late hours of October 4, 2014. She was a loving wife, daughter, and friend, loved deeply by those whose lives she touched here and in Cambodia. Karen was born on March 8, 1976 in Pasadena, Texas to Glenna and David Jackson. Karen was a gifted artist in the purest form, and expressed her creativity in various mediums. She also loved music, singing, and played the viola and guitar. It was through music she met the love of her life, Maury McCown, while attending Howard Payne University. 1 Thessalonians 4:13 tells us, "But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope." We thank the LORD we have that hope, and we thank the LORD Karen did, too. She led a beautiful life, and is leaving a beautiful legacy.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 9, 2014 at Restwood Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, October 10, at Brazos Pointe Fellowship. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Karen and Maury's non-profit, Threaded Leaf Project at
