Katherine Weed Ortwig 85, of Exeland, WI passed away Monday, August 05, 2013 at her home.
Katherine was born September 22, 1927 in Zion, IL to Ward and Gertrude (Weed) Minors. She was raised in Zion, IL along with her eight brothers and sisters. On May 29, 1947 Katherine was joined in marriage to Frederick Charles Ortwig in Zion, IL. They had many nieces and nephews that they treated as their own children, taking them to stock car races, bowling, roller skating, baseball games, etc. Katherine and Fred had many family picnics at their home including relatives from both sides of the family. Katherine was an office worker and was employed at Abbott Laboratories in North Chicago and with other businesses. Katherine was active in the Christian Fellowship Bible Church in Zion for many years playing the piano, teaching the children's church, working with the youth group, and picking us up to go to church every Sunday. Katherine and Fred retired and moved to Lemington, WI where they had purchased the school house where Fred and his siblings had gone to grade school. They turned it into their retirement home. She was active with the Meteor Hills Bible Church for several years. Katherine enjoyed quilting, knitting, playing piano, taking pictures and videos to share with her family. She loved to serve her Lord Jesus and looked forward to meeting him and her loved ones in heaven.
