Katherine Ritterspacher Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 29, 2017.

Katherine Frances (Pache) Ritterspacher passed away on April 28, 2017 at the age of 73. Pache was born in Portland on May 31, 1943 and was the second of 3 children born to Phillip and LaVelle Ritterspacher. Since Pache was born during the middle of World War II, her father was absent during her early years having served as a Captain and then Major in the Army Artillery division in Europe during the war. The Ritterspacher family then moved to Pasco, Washington in 1954 where Pache spent her middle school years and graduated from Pasco High School in 1961. Pache was an accomplished athlete throughout her youth and participated in the doubles championship at the high school State Tennis Tournament in 1961.

Pache went on to receive her BA and Masters in Education at Central Washington University in Ellensburg and then moved to Yakima where
she was a Physical Ed teacher in the West Valley School District for many years. She moved to Issaquah in the mid 1980's taking the position of Vice Principal of Snoqualmie Middle School. She was later appointed as Assistant Superintendent of the Snoqualmie School District where she worked until her retirement in 2004. She then moved to Bonney Lake to be near her sister, Phyllis.

Pache is survived by her brother Tom Ritterspacher of Clarksville TN, and her sister Phyllis Richardson of Bonney Lake WA. Although Pache did not have children of her own, she was completely devoted to her nieces and nephews; Travis Ritterspacher of Nashville TN, Trelane Clark of Burke VA, Ryan Richardson of Renton WA, and Carlye Tercero of Puyallup WA. Pache loved her family and was always supportive of all her great nieces and nephews and their activities.

Although Pache struggled with a number of health issues in the final years of her life, she was always a strong and positive force with both friends and family. She will be missed greatly and will always remain in our hearts with fond memories.

A personal tribute memorial page for Katherine (Pache) has been set up at the following website:

I only new her as Miss Ritterspacher, my PE teacher at West Valley High in Yakima. I live now in Kennewick and saw the obit and had fond memories of a demanding but FUN teacher. It's sad that she is gone, but what a successful career! Vickie (Bliss) Moon

Little did I know when I met you as my P.E. teacher in 1967, that you would become my lifelong friend and confidante. Oh the memories we shared. You came in the middle of the night to take care of Katie the night Adam was born. Our celebrations of St. Patrick's Day were epic. Your 50th birthday limousine party. Our retirement parties. Our two hour phone conversations. Always there for me with such joy, such sage advice, and so much laughter. Your philosophy about education inspired so many of us. It will always be "You and me against the world". Thank you for last 50 years of friendship!

Pache: it is hard to sum up our friendship in just a few sentences. I came to know you as a neighbor, but you became a friend. A confidante. A listener. And would offer advice if asked. Your door was ALWAYS open to me, and you ALWAYS had a smile on your face no matter how you felt. Through Chester and Gizmo...... we laughed, we cried. I am so happy you got to meet Lucy Lu. I am forever happy that I started hugging you and telling you I love you before departing your house. You will forever be in my heart. You had no idea how very much you meant to me. I will always miss you, but will think of you and your kind heart with a smile.
