Whiting – Kathleen "Kitty" Bassillo passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at the Laurelton Village Nursing Home, Brick. She was 88.
Born in England, she had lived in Jersey City before moving to Whiting 25 years ago.
Prior to retiring in 1986, she had worked as a Payroll Clerk for the Hudson County Board of Freeholders for 17 years.
Mrs. Bassillo was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Whiting. She was also a member of the Crestwood Choral Club and a member of the Crestwood Village # 4 Residents Club. She was also a member of the RAF.
She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years Frank in 2007. Also by a daughter Rosaline and by a granddaughter Caroline in 2010. And by a brother Arthur.
Surviving are 3 sons: Frank and his wife Anastasia of Rochelle Park, Robert and his wife Eileen of Pt. Pleasant and Peter of Bloomfield. A daughter Kathleen of Belleville. 2 brothers: Harry Foster of England and Warwick Foster of Northern Ireland. 2 grandchildren: Frank and Christopher. 2 great-grandchildren; AJ and Amelia
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 pm at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 115 lacey Road, Whiting, NJ. For further information or to send an online condolence, Please visit: andersoncampbellwhiting.com.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday 10:15 am at the funeral home, followed by a 10:45 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting.
Burial will follow at the Brigadier Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.

Auntie Kath (and Uncle Frank) were the kindest and most generous of people. I will always remember Kath's kindly humour and her positive attitude to life. I suppose we met a dozen times, separated as we are by the big pond. But from when I was 5 to when I was 50 I don't think she changed at all. We will really miss her and will be thinking of her and all the family today. With our sincerest condolences,

I am so grateful to have known Kitty Bassillo ("Mrs. B" as I called her). She always had a great big smile waiting for you and along with her cheery disposition, you always felt wonderful after spending a litte time with her.
