Kathryn L. Spivey Anthony, 88, of Columbus, died at 9:25 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at her home.

Mrs. Anthony was a medical transcriptionist at the VA Hospital in Indianapolis and worked in Civil Service for 15 years. She later worked for Cummins as a secretary for 11 years and for many years as a secretary for several local attorneys and physicians.

She attended Ball State University and Indiana University. She had been an active member of First United Methodist Church, serving as Circle Leader, Sunday school teacher, secretary for the Executive Board of the Women's Society and singing in choir. She was a former member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Leaf and Bud Garden Club, where she had served as secretary, was active and volunteered at the Senior Center Club, where she served as secretary of the Executive Board for two terms, and had been secretary-treasurer for Modern Homemakers Home Extension Club. She was also a member of the Indianapolis Museum of Art-Columbus Gallery and the Historical Society. She regularly volunteered at local nursing homes playing piano dinner music and volunteered at Foundation for Youth-Girls Club where she taught knitting and piano. She enjoyed genealogy and was an avid Republican Party supporter.

Funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hathaway-Myers Chapel on Pearl Street with the Rev. Chris Lantz officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service Saturday. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery in Seymour.

Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church Music Fund or Hospice of South Central Indiana.

Born in Seymour June 6, 1924, Mrs. Anthony was the daughter of George and Martha Stockover Kasting. She married Lawrence Spivey in April 1948. He preceded her in death in 1963. She married Robert Anthony in June 1991. He preceded her in death in 1995.

She is survived by a daughter, Linda (Jack) Clark of Columbus; a granddaughter, Amanda (Wayne) Smith of Camby; great-grandchildren, Clarissa and Brianna Smith of Camby; and several nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands and six brothers, Frank, Dennis, G. Roland, John, Lynn and Wilfred Kasting.
