Our heartfelt sympathies go out to Debra, Bill and Olivia on the passing of their mother and grandmother, Kathy Kemp. As part of Kathy's wide-ranging circle of friends and "extended family", we share in the sorrow of your loss.

Our acquaintance with Kathy stems back over many years, since she developed a friendship, and eventually became a "soul-sister" to Bruce's sister Dorothy (also known as "D.D.") Buckwell. In those intervening years we came to know Kathy well through many visits and phone calls. She was always a warm and generous hostess, a great conversationalist, and a truly delightful and energetic personality. We enjoyed many wonderful times with Kathy and D.D., and after Dorothy passed away we continued a close contact with Kathy. We are going to miss her big-time.

More than anything, we owe her a huge debt of gratitude for the care and devotion she gave, and personal sacrifices she made to help Dorothy through her long period of sickness. When we and the rest of D.D.'s family were too far away to help, Kathy was her family, seeing her through appointments and treatments, standing by her through all of the difficult days. We could never thank Kathy enough for all she did.

Sadly, her opportunity to have time for herself has been very short. Her own illness stepped in to take Kathy far too soon. After her valiant battle with cancer, we can only be glad that she is now pain-free.

Hopefully our girls are together again, enjoying some hearty laughs (and perhaps a few wines) in a better place.

Bless them both.

My deepest sympathy goes out to Kathy's entire family and friends. She was a great friend for the short one and a half year friendship we shared. I will never forget her and the extreme braveness she displayed throughout the long battle with her sickness. I will miss her tremendously! She had many dear and longtime friends that are hurting as well but I'm sure the good memories will exceed the sadness within time. My sincere hope is for her daughter,son-in-law and granddaughter to find comfort during this grieving process. My love and sympathy to all, and most importantly, my friendship and love for a dear friend will never be forgotten. ~~~Robin and Rodney Patterson~~~ (Ft. Mill, SC)
