Kay Garner Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 15, 2013.

Graveside service for Kay Roberson Garner, 55, of Decatur will be Thursday, January 17, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery with Brother Paul Smith officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be from noon to 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Garner, who died Monday, January 14, 2013, at home, was born August 9, 1957, in Mobile to Henry Jay Roberson and Alice Janet Roberson. Kay worked for many years as a dental assistant until she had children and then left her career to be a stay-at-home mother. She loved her children dearly, had a wonderful sense of humor, and was always ready for a trip to the beach. She left many wonderful memories with everyone who was a part of her life. Kay will be loved and missed dearly by everyone who knew her.

She is survived by one son, Thomas Jay Garner; one daughter, Lauryn Kay Garner; her parents, Alice and Henry Roberson; one brother, Jay Roberson (Debra); and one sister, Sharon Roberson Weeks (Leslie). She was preceded in death by her grandparents.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all family, friends, physicians and the Hospice of the Valley staff who supported her throughout her battle with cancer and her final days here on earth. We know that she is in heaven where there are no tears, no mourning or pain because God makes everything new!

"These things I have spoken to you, that in me you might have peace. In the world you shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." John 16:33

"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous hand." Isaiah 41:10

Her gentle joyful mischievous ways, the first granddaughter in our family revealed a deep quiet faith of twinkling optimism through the years giving us all child-like shining Hope. Our last visit, unsure of exact location, Kay, hands held high waving, stood by the curb, like "right here." Believe Heaven's family waves her HOME. Our love and prayers.
