Keith Parker Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 29, 2015.

Keith A. Parker, age 55 of Clinton Township, passed away March 27, 2015. Beloved brother of Kevin, Karen, Kenneth (Lynn) and Kathryn (Robert) Goad. Loving uncle of Natalie, Chris, Ashlee (James), Zackary, Holly and Noah. He is predeceased by parents Allan and Charlotte. Keith enjoyed spending time with his family, bowling, listening to music, reading and doing puzzles. He also enjoyed arranging for and going on weekly trips with his friends from The Gardens of Clinton where he resided for the past two years. Keith worked for the State of Michigan for nearly twenty years and had an associate's degree from Henry Ford Community College. But, it was not until he attended Dorsey Business School that he developed his love of computers, switched positions to the IT department and moved to Lansing - he became highly skilled. He worked for the state until his retirement in 2008. Visitation will be held Wednesday 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Kaul Funeral Home, 28433 Jefferson Ave., St. Clair Shores. There will be a funeral service Thursday at Kaul Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or to Cerebral Palsy.

Dear Keith,
As I approach your 4th year anniversary I ponder, often, of the special times that we shared together during our childhood. I close my eyes and envision that infectious laugh and smile of yours, and I cannot help but chuckle! Ken and I speak of you often as we share our heartfelt grief of your passing. I am not really sure if that ever goes away. I cannot wait till May so I can Plant some colorful and lovely flowers for both you and Mom! I enjoy doing this as a token of my Love and my appreciation for the time I was able to spend with you. As I always promised, I still carry you (my memories) around in my hip pocket as I continue to love and Miss you always! And by the way, Ed says Hi too and he is still waiting to catch that Big Fish.....

Keith my dear brother 1 year ago today you went to be our angel in the sky. I truly know if I were to ask you to come back I know the answer would be NO!! That doesn't mean I don't want you to. Our life seems so empty without you. I do need to thank you, if not for you I do not think I would be the person I am. If not for you I would not know love, compassion, kindness, generosity, true strength, a true fighter! You being in my life taught me so many things. I know this past year you have been able to truly live with out pain, fear, restrictions! You have been able to RUN free and PLAY YOUR MUSIC as LOUD as you want!! Keith little did you know you were my hero!!! Just know you were always loved!!! Till we see each other in heaven!! Give MOM and DAD a big hug for me!! LOVE YOU!!

Keith,

You were always in my hip pocket since childhood. Not sure what I am going to do without you! I knew right from the start till the very end, how special you would be in my heart, my angel, my brother, my friend!
Such a Fine young Man, My hero and I, you're biggest fan.
It has been an honor and a privilege to stand by your side in case you stumble or fall, holding you gently being your guide.
I wanted the whole world to see just why you were so special to me. For if they would just take the time to sit with you awhile, they would soon see your quick wit and bright mind behind that wonderful smile...

Now it is your time, you shone like the brightest star and the blinding Sun! You are now home and pain free, you have finally won! Actually, you were my Angel sitting at the edge of my bed.
I'll still carry you in my heart wherever I go - Your Sister, Karen

I met Keith only a few years ago when he and his sister Karen along with I and my wife shared a Thanksgiving meal at a local restaurant--I liked him immediately.
Last summer while he was receiving physical therapy as an inpatient, I often visited him and we would go outside on the porch and talk about current events which he followed closely. We would also talk about science, philosophy, sports, and spiritual matters--there was nothing I could bring up that he could not add to (including ending a sentence in a preposition).
During this hospitalization, I took him to a couple of doctor appointments one of which became somewhat of an adventure--there was a heavy rainfall the night before and streets were flooded all around us making making the trip three times as long as it should have been. Seeing a river that had overflowed its banks, we joked that we should have brought our fishing gear.
After this hospitalization he returned to his appartment where he continued the independent life that he alwalys struggled to maintain--he had an indomitable spirit despite his life long affliction.
Keith and I were planning to go fishing this summer and he had bought a new reel in preparation for this. We were going to put line on this reel but he was taken to hospital on the day we were going to do this--he never returned.
Although I knew Keith a short time, his strength and spirit enhanced my life. So long my friend, we will meet again and we will fish greater waters.
