Keith Quigley Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 5, 2016.

Keith Quigley, age 32, of Pacific Beach, CA, passed away following a tragic automobile accident on November 3, 2016. Keith was the beloved son of Denise and Dr. Jim Quigley of Carlsbad, CA, the dear brother of Shannon Marie Quigley and Maren Ecoffey and the cherished life partner of Hilary Lowe. Keith was a pure and gentle light in this world and a man of compassion, conviction, and strength. He graduated from La Costa Canyon High School and San Diego State University and has lived in Pacific Beach for the past eight years with Hilary, his constant and loving companion. Keith spent ten years working for REI - most of that time he worked in the action sports department as a certified bike and ski technician. He had also worked with DecoBike, the San Diego Bike Share Program and for the City of San Diego as a Lake Aid at Lower Otay Reservoir. He had recently started a career as a Park Ranger with the County of San Diego. Biking was one of his true passions and talents, from cruising the boardwalk to touring the coast of California to mountain biking on trails throughout San Diego County and the United States. Keith spent endless hours surfing, mountain biking, hiking, camping and riding bikes on the boardwalk with Hilary, always reaching out to hold her hand. In addition, he spent four years as a proud member of the men’s crew team while at SDSU. While his life was tragically cut short, Keith left a meaningful and lasting mark in the world in the time that he had here. He will be remembered for his thoughtfulness, good nature, creativity, sense of adventure, eclectic tastes, and his goofy sense of humor. There could not be a more loving son, brother, or partner, or a truer friend. He judged no one, was the gentlest of souls and always put others first. One of his most recent highlights was a summer vacation in Tahoe with the people closest to him, his immediate family and Hilary. He loved all creatures and those around him could feel his warmth. He was a gift and a blessing and was so deeply loved. His brother-in-law Tyler Ecoffey, his niece Adelyn Mae and his nephew Ryland James, his Grand Mother Dolores and many aunts, uncles and cousins, also survive Keith. Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Mass Thursday morning 10:00 AM at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church- 6628 Santa Isabella St. Carlsbad CA 92009. A celebration of Keith’s life will take place at the Quigley Residence from 2:00PM to 5:00PM at 7074 Rockrose Terrace Carlsbad, CA 92011. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory can be made to Surfrider Foundation (www.surfrider.org) or the San Dieguito River Valley Conservancy (www.sandieguitorivervalleyconservancy.org).
