Diane, Sarah and Katie. Can't begin to tell you what a great husband/father you had, and you already know that. He was such a kind, humble, generous and loving person that made such a memorable impression on so many. You will sorely miss him, but remember, he has gained his angel wings and we will all meet again in heaven. Much love to you and may God hold you in his hands as you travel through this journey.

Teachers are not supposed to have to go to services for their students. Kelly was in TOG at E. C. Glass and a fun person to be around. He will be remembered, especially that infamous trip to D.C. Will never forget seeing him and Sam just sitting on the curb waiting for the rest of us. We are saddened by this loss.

Diane and girls,
One of the unique qualities about growing up in Lynchburg (at least in our generation) is that everyone seems to know everyone. People today don't realize that and how lucky we were to have enjoyed that experience. As Ed Lovern eloquently stated, with Kelly, everyone seemed to know and to like him. Kelly and I go way back to Junior High days. His vibrancy and love of life could fill the room and make one smile. His death has touched so many of his former classmates in ways unimaginable. Diane, we love you. Girls, I lost my dad when I was in high school and know the pain you are experiencing. I'm so very sorry. I do believe that he is still with you-and if you allow yourselves, you will feel his presence from time to time. You have LOTS of surrogate uncles (your dad's friends) and know that they will help you as best as they can. Please know that you aren't alone in the grieving process. Thinking of you all and sending much love.

Kelly seemed to have the ability to create a special, warm relationship with everyone he knew. I met Kelly in first grade and went through high school with him. Even from the time we were six, I always felt a connection with Kelly and that he was a friendly, caring soul. It seemed like everyone felt that same special connection with him. Even though I hadn't seen Kelly in years (other than on Facebook), it is such an unbelievable shock to hear of his passing. I feel so sad for Diane and their daughters. Please know that many of us knew that Kelly was a very special person who made the world a better place.
