Obituary

KENNETH M. CURRIE, 93, was discharged from Parkview Hospital directly to Heaven on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012. In recent years, he talked often about heaven and seeing his beloved wife, Ferne (she preceded him in death in 1998); son, John; brother, Don; and sister, Jean Silthee. He loved his family and his Lord. He loved designing and building sailboats almost as much. He served stateside in the Army for four years during World War II. He worked 40 years as a machine repairman for Ford Motor Co. He was creative, and loved to make other people laugh, always telling jokes. He was a member of Brookside Church and the Organ Club. He is survived by a son, Rob (Kay) Currie of Elgin, Ill.; daughter, Jan (Doug) Cox; brother, Bruce (Lillie) Currie; sister-in-law, Jean Currie; grandchildren, Peter Currie, Nathan Picklesimer, Sam and Steven Currie, and Hannah (Ron) Heaslet; and great-grandchildren, Violet and Ronnie Jr. Service is 11 a.m. Thursday, March 1, 2012, at Brookside Church, 6102 Evard Road, Fort Wayne, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012, at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne. Burial in Forest Home Cemetery, Hicksville, Ohio. Prefer memorials to missions work William Carey Academy.
