Kenneth Geddes Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 13, 2011.

Kenneth W. Geddes was born on January 5, 1923 in Boone, Iowa to Kenneth William Geddes and Sarah Margaret Geddes. A few months after his birth, the family moved to Victor, Colorado, where Ken was raised.

Ken loved his Victor roots and often told stories about life in Victor. He worked during high school at one of the hardware stores and delivered dynamite to the gold mines during depression. It was in Victor that as a young child, he met his wife, Helen Martha Hatcher, and in January of 1944, they were married.

Ken served in World War II in the Pacific theater and following the war, attended Colorado College for three years, went on to the University of Colorado law school. He was a practicing attorney in Colorado Springs for over 50 years.

Ken is preceded in death by his wife Helen in 1997 and his son Brian in 2010. He is survived by his daughter Ann Geddes – Taylor and her husband, Gary; his son William Geddes and his wife Patricia Geddes. He has five grandchildren; Andrea Williams, Grant Williams, Amanda Geddes – Smith, Tyler Geddes, and Brynna Geddes. Special friends include Jeff Williams, Laurie Hetzel, Bunny Routon, and Bob Stafford.

Ken loved the history of the Victor/Cripple Creek mining district and often wrote about the district. He collected mining artifacts and was a big benefactor of the district. He leaves many dear friends in Victor who will miss him.

Ken also loved hiking, mostly on Pikes Peak, and had been a member of the AdAMan club for 37 years, enjoying the annual climb to the summit on New Year's Eve.

Memorial service will be held Saturday, September 17, 2011 at 11:00 a.m., at Grace Episcopal and St. Stephens Church, 601 N. Tejon Street, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
