Kenneth D. "Wayne" Hartwick, 83, of Middleport, NY, passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at the Newfane Rehabilitation & Health Center.

Born on April 21, 1930 in Lockport, NY, he was the son of the late Kenneth G. and Hazel (King) Hartwick.

Kenneth grew up in Lyndonville, NY and graduated from Lyndonville High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and worked as a radio operator, having served in Japan and Korea. On returning home, he was employed as a phone installer for New York Telephone, retiring in 1980. After retiring he drove truck for area farmers. He was a member of the American Legion and V.F.W. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by a son, Bertrand Hartwick of Glendale, AZ; a sister, Barbara Carroll of Millville and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 from 11AM to 1PM at the Bates & Tuttle Funeral Home, 226 Pearl Street, Medina, NY 14103 with a funeral service at 1PM. Burial will be in Millville Cemetery in the spring.
