Obituary

Kenneth L. Jones entered into his heavenly home on Friday, February 10, 2012 after a brief pulmonary illness. Visitation will be at Mount Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO 64131, on Friday, February 17, 2012 from 6-8 PM. A funeral service will be at Colonial Presbyterian Church, 9500 Wornall Road, Kansas City, MO 64114-3996, on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 3:30 PM. The church will open at 2:30 PM for additional visitation; internment will be at Mount Moriah after the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. Kenneth was born on May 10, 1928, in Slater, MO to parents Ruth Lewellen Jones and Bernice Brown Jones and graduated from Slater High School.

Ken married his high school sweetheart, Nellie Venable, on June 22, 1947; they were married for almost 65 years. They were active in their church and community while lovingly raising their family. Ken and Nellie owned Dollins Tool, Inc. in Independence, MO, and were active in the tool-and-die industry. Ken was instrumental in the creation of the tool-and-die apprentice program at Maple Woods Community College. Ken and Nellie loved travel, especially to Colorado. Kenneth lived his faith in God and Jesus Christ, setting an example of integrity, love, and fun in all he did.

Kenneth was survived by his wife; one daughter, Debby Jones Williams; one son-in-law, Michael Williams; one son, Greg Jones; one daughter-in-law, Sandy Popp Jones; five grandchildren, Melinda Williams Howe, Megan Williams Johnson, Meredith Williams, Bradley Jones, and Alissa Jones; six great-grandchildren, soon to be seven, Matthew Williams, Blake Howe, Isabella Howe, Peyton Howe, Roan Johnson, and Valen Johnson; one sister, Janice Jones Sutton; one brother and sister-in-law, Sam and Myra Jones; nine nieces, Pat Babylon Harves, Janet Babylon Fain, Susan Babylon, Phyllis Whitt, Pamela Babylon Gulick, Trudy Babylon Arnold, Janelle Babylon Caulkins, Connie Sutton Stanley, and Ginger Jones Brucks; two nephews, Paul Sutton and Dan Jones; and twenty great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Philip Richard Jones; one brother-in-law, Ralph Sutton; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Bettye Babylon and Charles and Anna Hemme; one nephew and niece-in-law, Ralph and Debbie Sutton; one nephew, Charles Richard Hemme; and one great-nephew, Robert Fain.
