Kenneth Lee Stewart, or "Stewart" to his family and friends, was born on October 24th, 1934 in Muskogee, OK, the son of the late William Perry and Bessie Viola (Cooley) Stewart. He attended and graduated from Muskogee High School. Stewart entered the U.S. Army in 1951 and began his career as an Artillery Field Specialist, as a Master Drill Sergeant, and Air Borne Ranger. This man knew his way around a Howitzer! He faithfully served his country through the Korean and Vietnam Wars, receiving the National Defense, Army Commendation Medal, Bronze Star Medal for Combat, Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Expert Rifle and Marksman Pistol Medals. He was Honorably Discharged after 17 years of faithful service in 1968. In August of 1960, Stewart met and married the love of his life, Betty J. Norseworthy in Wichita Falls, TX. This union was blessed with one son, Steven and one daughter, Marsha. The family resided in Bloomington, CA from around 1970 until relocating to Oklahoma in 1990. Stewart worked installing underground utilities for Southern California Edison and Telephone and as a carpenter, and he could build anything! From the house to the cabinets in it, to the engine to run the car, Stewart was the man to build it or make it run. He had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed joking and teasing his family and friends, especially his grandbabies. He was a friend to many, the true friend that never asked you where you had been , or why you hadn't done this or that. He liked you just the way you were, and was always glad to see you to share a cup of coffee and a chat. He adored anytime spent with his grandchildren on the boat, fishing or on a treasure trip at Walmart. He was so very proud of them. He was a man of honor, truth, and integrity. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion Post 135. Stewart went home to his final rest on Sunday, August 17th, 2014, following complications of a truck accident. He was 79 years old. He will be missed for his smile, his unconditional love, and his life by example.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one beloved grandson, Steven Drew Stewart, two brothers, Samuel and William Stewart, and two sisters, Ida Mae and Janice Marie Stewart.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Betty Stewart of the home, son Steven Wayne Stewart of Colton, CA and daughter, Marsha Marie Cariker of Tahlequah, OK. He leaves one brother, Edward Stewart and wife Sandy of Grand Terrace, CA and two sisters, Sylvia June Fox and husband Norman of Montana and Linda Joan Stewart-Steinberg of Bloomington, CA. Stewarts legacy lives on in his three adored grandchildren, Matt Bowlin and wife Alyssa of Grand Terrace, CA, Colton Cariker and his sister Hanna Cariker both of Tahlequah, OK as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.

Sam Stewart

I lost contact with you and the rest of the family many years ago but I do remember you as a very kind uncle. I'm sorry I did not make contact with the family in time to have met you man to man but I'm happy that you were surrounded by people that love you.

Words can't express the lose of my grandpa,so many words left unsaid and so many feelings left unexpressed. He was a great man the kind of man i would love to become. He welcomed me into the Stewart family with a huge bear hug and i can still feel him pulling me into his huge chest. Though we lost contact over the years he never left my heart and soul. My only regret is that i was never able to express how much i loved him and how much he meant to me,he was loving and kind, everything a grandpa should be. He is with my brother and that brings a smile to my face. Grandpa, words can't explain how much i love and miss you! U will truly be missed by me and anybody who was ever blessed to have met you. Your great grandsons will be told of the big heart you carried with you, nobody i have ever met or will ever meet will amount to you!
