Kenneth Young
DeQuincy - Kenneth Young, 72, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2014 at a local hospital.
Kenneth was born in Sulphur and lived in DeQuincy. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a retired welder for PPG Industries. He was a member of Full Life Assembly of God where he served as a deacon for many years. Kenneth was truly dedicated to his family and loved spending every minute with them. He loved listening to Blue Grass Gospel music, being outside doing yard work, gardening, fishing and a good game of horseshoes/washers. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and loved watching football.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Sherry K. Young; parents, father, John D. Young and wife Grace, and mother, Leola Nordness and husband Hjalmer (Joe);sisters, Juanita Nordness and Drendra Dowers. Survivors include his daughter, Kaylene Marcantel and husband Dale of Sulphur, La.; grandchildren Dawn Cooper and husband Trace of DeQuincy, La., Rebecca Gary and husband Ryan of Lafayette, La.; brothers; George Young and wife Carol of Lodi, Wi., Kent Young and wife Johniece of Sulphur, La. and Jay Nordness of Lake Charles, La.; sister, Lisa Gott and husband Mike of Moss Bluff, La. and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be Thursday, January 23, at 10:00a.m. at Full Life Assembly of God Church of DeQuincy with Rev. Greg Cavenah and Rev. Chris Jeffus officiating. Burial will be in Perkins Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 22 from 4:00p.m. until 9:00p.m. at the church and will resume on Thursday at 9:00a.m. until service time.
