Kenny Lanier Ledford, age 71, of Kennesaw passed away on Monday, September 7, 2015.
Kenny was a life long musician who played, sang, and breathed music from his soul. He began when he picked up his first set of drum sticks at the age of 15 years old. From that point on, there was no holding back. Kenny played in several bands locally, at clubs, and at the VFW. His walls were covered with his countless awards - the Pioneer Award, Membership to the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame, and Inductee to the Atlanta Society of Entertainers to name a few.
Kenny had two families in his life: his music family and his personal family. Kenny loved them both and truly enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He made each and everybody feel extra special with their own unique nicknames - which he was the best at giving.
Kenny was a very outgoing individual who would do anything for anybody. He was a member of the Mableton Moose Lodge #1314, Meyerhardt Lodge #314 F&AM, and attended Mt. Paran North Church of God. Besides volunteering through his organizations, Kenny was known to arrange benefits and hold tributes for the less fortunate.
He was an optimistic person who enjoyed living life to the fullest, including eating. His favorite meal was breakfast, biscuits of any kind, and he would never pass up a Brandi's hotdog. His family remembers that nothing would go better with his beloved Italian than his "vino." Kenny also enjoyed playing poker and thrift store shopping.
Kenny Lanier Ledford is survived by his wife, Peggy Ledford of Kennesaw; son, Kinsey Ledford II and his fiancé, Angela Wilson, of Kennesaw; daughters, Sheila Cagle-Webb and her husband, Greg Webb, of Covington, Susie McFarland and her fiancé, Buddy Cobb, of Cartersville, and Shelley Smith and her husband, Josh Smith, of Canton; brothers, Neal Ledford and his wife, Joanna Ledford, and Frank Ledford, both of Marietta; grandchildren, Craig, Meredith, Allison, Michael, Ashley, Cody, Lacey, Landon, and Olivia; and great-grandchildren, Skylar, Summer, and Alexander "L.J."
The family will receive friends Thursday, September 10, 2015 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again on Friday, September 11, 2015 from 12:00 PM until service time at 2:00 PM at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw. A private interment will follow.

I have known Kenny all my life. Like Lewis Stanford, went to church at Mount Arbor with the entire Ledford family. Such sweet memories! Church picnic's up on the Stanford Farm with our Pastor Ed Ledford and the entire church. In later years, Kenny and Peggy's daughter, Sheila, rode my school bus to SHS. Then later on I worked with Peggy at Cobb EMC. I also picked turnip greens with Minnie may a time at my Grandma's place (George and Vedie Queen) on Allgood Road, in Marietta, back in the early 70's. I am so sorry for your loss. Peggy, you and your family are in my prayers.

My pop was a human being that loved his life. He loved God, this country, his family and music. He was extremely proud of his Cherokee Indian heritage. My pop wanted to soar, but his health limitations grounded him. My pop was a dreamer, always looking beyond.
Pop, now you can reach all your dreams, and destinations. There are no limitations. Now the music can play on forever!
