Kernie "Dynamite" Cochran - an 81 year-old native of Wayne County, MS and longtime resident of Chunchula passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2013. Mr. Cochran was a veteran of the United States Army and retired from International Paper after 34 years of service. He was a faithful member of Calvary Temple Assembly of God and enjoyed farming and watching sports. Mr. Cochran was preceded in death by his daughter, Margaret Diane Cochran. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Mary "Frankie" Cochran; children, Billy H. Cochran (Vickie) and Tammy Kimbrell (Greg); brother, Sonny Cochran (Maxine); sister, Genelle Stokely (W.T.); grandchildren, Jason Cochran, Lesley Cochran (Angie), Kyle Cochran, April Blackshaw (Joe), Stephen Coleman, and Cody Thompson; three great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home in Saraland on Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, December 16, from 5-8 p.m. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
