Kimberly Thompson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 24, 2018.

Kimberly was born on January 8, 1961, in Pomona, California to parents Ronald Thompson and Vicky R. Thompson. She passed away on January 24, 2018, in Dallas, Texas.
Kimberly's youth and young adult life was spent living around the globe. Her journey through life included homes in Pomona, CA, Boston, MA, Havre de Grace, MD, Austin, TX, Vallejo, CA, Los Alamitos, CA, San Diego, CA, Yokosuka, Japan, Southsea/Cosham, England, Cambridge, England, Houston, TX, Williamsburg, VA, and Dallas, TX where she ultimately made her permanent home.
She graduated high school in London, England and graduated with a dual Honors degree(s) in Economics and Political Science from the University of Cambridge, England. She worked briefly as a Legal Assistant in Houston, TX before pursuing her Law Degree from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA where she served as an Editor on Law Review. Upon graduation from law school, she moved to Dallas and began her career as an attorney practicing complex commercial litigation.
Kimberly is survived by her beloved(s), daughter Channing Brooke Tucker, mother Vicky Thompson Bair, Kenneth Bair, Jr, her "daddy" of twenty-six years, father Ronald Thompson, brother Sean Thompson, nephew Adrian Thompson, niece Angela Thompson, uncle Robert Garrett, and her beloved blended family of sisters Stephanie Newbill, Jennifer Ancona, and Sharon Dunkin and brothers Cub Bair, Matt Bair, Clay Bair, Kye Chisman, and Aaron Chisman. Also surviving are her dearly loved sisters-in-law (Christine Thompson, Kelli Bair, Becky Chisman), brother-in-law (Kent Newbill), aunt ("Retta" Garrett), and her Thompson/Bair/Garrett family of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In Kimberly's walk through her Garden of Life, she cultivated many lasting friendships, some of which spanned decades. Her friends, all of whom so enriched her life, became her extended family along her path.
Kimberly enjoyed travelling, music, reading, and the Theatre. But, to all who knew her, her greatest passion was the practice of Law.
Kimberly's family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to each and everyone for their prayers, their love, and their support.

Just recived this heartbreaking news. A beautiful person, a life well lived and a life terribly , tragically short. All my Best to Vicky, Sean and the love of her life - Channing.

What I remember most about Kimberly is her love for and willingness to do pro bono work. She was tireless in her efforts to help others with their legal work, even if the tasks became complicated (as they usually did for pro bono clients) but she would always follow through to the end.

We shall all have to work a bit harder to keep the world as bright as it was when Kimberly was on earth. Never doubt how special Kimberly is to those who knew her, and never underestimate how far her light reached.
Love and prayers,

There is not enough space here to say all of the great things about Kimberly that meant so much to so many people. We worked together back in the day at a special, wonderful law firm, and one year in November we and a couple of our colleagues found ourselves with no place to go for Thanksgiving. So we all got together and cooked up Thanksgiving dinner ourselves! I don't remember much about the food, but I do remember that we all laughed continuously for hours. That is Kimberly.

I worked with Kimberly for many years. She was a force of nature - bright, articulate, opinionated, a very hard worker - and a lot of fun. I will miss her presence on this earth. Channing, if I can ever be of help to you, let me know. Tonya knows how to reach me. RIP, friend. -Toni Whittier
