King Barnett, 68, passed away on August 2, 2017. He was born on December 11, 1948 in Topeka, Kansas to Oscar and Mary Barnett. He was one of six siblings. At 18 years old, King enlisted into the Air Force and fought in the Vietnam War. After his service, he went back to school, graduated, and became a proud alumnus from Texas Christian University. King later married his true love Debbye Evans on June 5, 1993 and had three children. Throughout his career, he retired from Fort Worth police department, DA investigator, private investigator, and his own business in bails bonds. King held many titles but his favorite was being a loving husband, father, and grand-father. He enjoyed playing golf, hunting, and fishing. King was liked by everyone because he was always in a good mood and helped anyone he met. He lived life by his own quote, "If you're not having a good day it's your own damn fault." So, he always made sure to keep a smile on his face and have a good day. King will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
He is survived by his wife Debbye Barnett; two sons Gary (wife Keylia) and Michael (wife Muriel); one daughter Tory Armstrong (husband Daniel); three grandchildren Lexi, Eli, Jake; and brother Charles Barnett (wife Debbie). He is preceded in death by his parents Oscar and Mary Barnett and siblings Margaret Barnett, Mary Welsh, Barbara Eckhardt, and William Barnett.

I did not know where to call. On behalf of Sandra and I and especially many on the SRT team, let me express our true sympathy to you, your mom, and siblings. At 68, your dad was relatively a young man. I am sure your faith and the faith of your family will carry you all through these times. God bless!

King was and always be a true friend to me as well as his entire family. True class all the way. One of my favorite memories of King was the true respect and class he showed one of the old timers "Claude". True class. I feel for the Barnett family but he is in a such better place. As humans we are selfish when he lose our love ones, but we shall see them again. I try and take comfort in that but it is hard. Much love and respect to the Barnett family.....

I've known King for 48 years. He was one of the kindest, most generous and funniest men I've ever met. We will all miss him and remember him for the entertaining guy he was, up untill the end. My deepest sympathy to Debbye, Tory and all the Barnett family.

A very big loss to this world, King left a legacy of kindness, caring for others, and work ethics not often seen anymore. A class act for certain. Praying for comfort to all the Barnetts and family, friends, and co workers.

King was a joy to be around. He could always make me and anyone else he was around laugh. When I became a private investigator, King was one of the first to encourage me and offer great advice.
Debbye, I do feel your pain. I lost Sonny almost 4 yrs ago. Kiddos, stay close, you all need eachother more than ever---especially your mom.

I send my prayers. I knew King but had not visited with him for a number of years. We always were friends and had a good working relationship which was easy to do with King. I am saddened to hear this and we all have lost a good friend and law enforcement officer. May God Bless his family and bring them peace. Larry Beauchamp, Lawn, Texas
