Kyle Jordan Atchison, age 29, of Everett WA went to be with
the Lord on Oct, 24 2012. Kyle was receiving medical treatment for his
nerve damage, CRPS, at UCLA at the time of his passing.
Kyle was born on June 9, 1983 in Dhahran Saudi Arabia to Carolyn and
Ralph Atchison of Alabama. Kyle grew up with his sister, Erin Suzanne
Atchison Lufkin. Kyle was active in his boy scout troupe, earning his
Eagle Scout in 1999. Kyle graduated from Blue Ridge School in Virginia
in 2002 where he then went on to graduate from LeTourneau University
in Longview, TX with a Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical Science
Professional Flight and a minor in Marketing in 2008. While attending
LeTourneau University, Kyle met his wife, Lisa Jones Atchison, of
Everett, WA and they married on July 15, 2006.
Kyle had a love for anything aviation, his true passion was Boeing
jumbo jets. If ever there was a question of the specifics of an
airplane, it was more than likely that Kyle knew the answer. While in
college, Kyle achieved his private through his multi-engine pilot
ratings, he was also a member of the NIFA precision flight team. After
college, Kyle and his wife, Lisa moved to Kerrville, TX where Kyle
worked with Aviation Insurance. In 2010, Kyle and Lisa welcomed their
daughter. Later on in 2010 the Atchison family moved up to Everett to
be closer to family. While in Everett, Kyle was an integral part of
his church, Edmonds Church of God. Kyle served on the Board of
Trustees as well as on the sound board for the worship team. In 2012,
their second child, a son, was welcomed into the world.
In 2006, a hospital IV in Kyle's left hand contracted an infected and
caused nerve damage, RSD/CRPS. Kyle battled immense pain for six
years, relying on an internal spinal cord stimulator and medication to
stay on top of the pain. The only lingering symptom was a sensitivity
to the cold, otherwise Kyle was able to regain strength and mobility
of his left hand. To help keep his left hand warm, Kyle's wife created
a one sided, long sleeve shirt as well utilized different gloves. Some
people came to know Kyle as "Mr. Glove". In May of 2012, the original
spinal cord stimulator ceased to work as efficiently as before leaving
Kyle to deal with incredible levels of pain. The search for relief
lead the family to UCLA in Los Angeles, CA to seek treatment for
Kyle's CRPS. Kyle was starting to see some progress against the pain
when he went to sleep one night and never woke up. In the early hours
of Oct 24, 2012 Kyle's mom and wife did their best to wake him up at
their hotel. When they were unsuccessful, the paramedics were called
in and Kyle was taken to the hospital where they did all they could do
to revive him.
Kyle is survived by his wife, Lisa Atchison (Everett, WA), his
children Noelle and Ryan (Everett, WA), his parents Ralph and Carolyn
Atchison (Dhahran Saudi Arabia), his grandmother Norma Atchison
(Dayton, OH), his grandmother and grandaddy Maude Ellen "Boppa" and

Flyer's Prayer
When this life I'm in is done,
And at the gates I stand,
My hope is that I answer all
His questions on command.
I doubt He'll ask me of my fame,
Or all the things I knew, Instead,
He'll ask of rainbows sent
On rainy days I flew.
The hours logged, the status reached,
The ratings will not matter.
He'll ask me if I saw the rays
And how He made them scatter.
Or what about the droplets clear,
I spread across your screen?
And did you see the twinkling eyes.
If student pilots keen?
The way your heart jumped in your chest,
That special solo day-
Did you take time to thank the one
Who fell along the way?
Remember how the runway lights
Looked one night long ago
When you were lost and found your way,
And how-you still dont know?
How fast, how far, how much, how high?
He'll ask me not these things
But did I take the time to watch
The Moonbeams wash my wings?
And did you see the patchwork fields
And moutains I did mould;
The mirrored lakes and velvet hills,
Of these did I behold?
The wind he flung along my wings,
On final almost stalled.
And did I know I it was His name,
That I so fearfully called?
And when the goals are reached at last,
When all the flyings done,
I'll answer Him with no regret-
Indeed, I had some fun.
So when these things are asked of me,
And I can reach no higher,
My prayer this day - His hand extends
To welcome home a Flyer.

We watched Kyle grow up from an infant to a fine young man. Our families spent many Easters, Thanksgivings and Christmases together in Dhahran. Kyle and Suzanne are Christine and Gavin's Aramco "cousins". Kyle was a great husband and father and son. Our prayers are with Lisa and the children and Ralph, Carolyn and Suzanne--may God give you strength to carry on. All our Love,
