Kyle Allen Van Winkle-30 of Smithville, MO passed away on December 1st, 2013. Memorial services will be 11:00 am Friday December 6th at First Christian Church of Smithville, 201 N Bridge Street. Visitation will be 5:30-8:30 pm Thursday at the church. Interment services will be private. He was employed at Community America Credit Union. Kyle married Jenni Flanders on August 19, 2011. After two wonderful years they were blessed with a son, William Allen seven weeks ago. Kyle was an avid golfer and enjoyed cheering on Mizzou and Kansas City teams. A loving and devoted husband, father, son, grandson and brother, he loved to be with family and friends. Kyle's compassion for others showed through everything he did but nothing compared to the love he had for his wife and son.
Proceeded in death by his grandfather Ronnie Van Winkle and grandmother Patricia Blanchette. He leaves behind his wife, Jenni Van Winkle and his infant son William. His parents, Dean and Cindy Van Winkle. Siblings Kelly (Jeff) Lyon, Klinton Van Winkle. Mother and Father in law Kent and Marty Flanders. Brother in law Brad Flanders. Maternal grandparents Harold and Shirley Miller. Paternal grandmother Jan Van Winkle. Two nephews Drew and Cash Lyon.
Kyle will forever be in the hearts of those that loved him and his legacy will live on through his son.

I am so sorry for the loss of someone you have loved and cherished. My Heart and Prayers go out to you and your son... May God Watch over you both.. Words can only do so much, as many of us know. Time is what it will take to endure this loss, and you will find, time goes faster sometimes than you want, and sometimes it feels necessary to want it to go fast, just for a bit. And God will help you with the Time.... As will the Love of your family and friends. Count on your family and friends, they won't mind at all, when you need them... I don't Know you or your family, but a friend sent your name to me, and I just wanted you to know, Sometimes, more than you know, Strangers Do Care... God Bless

I played little league football and had some classes in High School with Kyle. I have a unique memory of him on that little league team. At practice the team was conducting football tackling drills and I was partnered up with Kyle. It was my job to tackle him because he was the one running with the football. Well I outweighed Kyle quite a bit and assumed that tackling him would be easy. I could not have been more wrong! He ended up running right through me and knocking the wind out of me! It was the first time that had ever happened so I was freaking out a bit, so Kyle runs back over to me to make sure I was ok reaches out his hand helps me up and said you should always tackle low ! He Smiled and said I will show you! So he worked with all throughout the season, not on just tackling but just how to be a better football player all around. He was only a year older than me but was wise beyond his years. He displayed outstanding leadership skills and was showed a lot of class. I am deeply saddened to hear what had happened to him! The pain and sorrow his close family and friends feel must be unbearable. I want to tell the Van Winkle family you are in my thoughts and prayers. Kyle will never be forgotten!

There are no answers to why such things happen those who bring so much joy and happiness to the lives of so many, but may you find comfort in the fact that the lives of those who knew Kyle, even for a mere second, are better simply because he was a part of them. Kyle was such a kind, caring individual that brought so much light to an often dark world and his light will continue to shine through those that knew him.

Jenni, Cindy, Dean and the whole family...we are so sad because of the death of Kyle...I remember him as such a pleasant, kind, polite young man at the Miller Reunions. We don't understand this tragedy, but we know we live in a fallen world. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and don't lean to your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths." Proverbs 3:5-6. We can't see it now but in Romans 8:28 God promises to bring something good out of bad if we love God and are called according to His Purpose. Lots of love to all of you, Judy Shaffner Kimbrough...

To family, friends and loved ones of Kyle. I had the opportunity to be a part of Kyle's life as a Coach at Belton High School. I am shocked at this senseless act that took Kyles life. Kyle was an example of how one should live their life through love for your family and dedication to life. I will always remember his kindness, mannerism and sense of humor. Kyle was a pure joy to be around. In life there are certain people that just touch your life in many wonderful ways. Kyle was a person that not only touched lives but he made a difference in lives. I remember clearly the days of being at school talking with both Kyle and his sister Kelly. Both just outstanding people and both made an impact on my life. Kyle I know you are in the hands of God. Thank you for having that once in a lifetime opportunity to be your coach and your teacher. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone during this difficult time. My heart is filled with sadness as I have a 15 month old daughter. When Kyle's young child of two months is old enough to read back and reflect on all the things written about your father during this unexpected loss know that your Dad Kyle Allen Van Winkle has watched over you from heaven. God bless and never forget Kyle. Thank you for the opportunity to share. Coach Michael Curtis, former Men's Basketball Coach at Belton High School
