L. Bernard Brockman, 84, passed away March 18, 2010 in Fort Smith. He was born October 20, 1925, in Conway, AR to Jacob Lewis Brockman and Mary Alma Henderson Brockman. Bernard graduated from Conway High School, and received his Bachelors Degree from Oklahoma State University where he was editor of the yearbook in 1949. He was the former owner/operator of Mity Mite Motors for 25 years, was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the Gleaners Sunday School class, the Pacesetters, was a former superintendent of the church education department and also taught Sunday school. L. Bernard Brockman, 84, passed away March 18, 2010 in Fort Smith. He was born October 20, 1925, in Conway, AR to Jacob Lewis Brockman and Mary Alma Henderson Brockman. Bernard graduated from Conway High School, and received his Bachelors Degree from Oklahoma State University where he was editor of the yearbook in 1949. He was the former owner/operator of Mity Mite Motors for 25 years, was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the Gleaners Sunday School class, the Pacesetters, was a former superintendent of the church education department and also taught Sunday school. He was a former member of the Noon Exchange Club and was an Army Air Corp veteran of WWII. Bernard was an avid football fan, and loved following the Razorbacks, as well as high school football. He was a St. Louis Cardinal's baseball fan, loved to fish, and he enjoyed singing with the "Tone Blenders" at Methodist Village retirement home.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Jean Brockman

He is survived by 1 daughter; Susan Schulte and husband Mike, of Fort Smith, AR, 1 son; Dr. David Brockman and wife Lori, of North Little Rock, AR, 1 sister; Terisa Colley and husband Tyler, of McKinney, TX, 2 brothers; Don Brockman and wife Sandy, of Vian, OK and Ed Brockman and wife Debbie, of Vian, OK, 6 grandchildren; Luke, Ben, and Tyler Brockman, all of North Little Rock, AR, Betsy Porta and husband Gabe, of Fayetteville, AR, Leah Ramsey and husband Chris, of Fort Smith, AR, and Brock Schulte and wife Sarah, of Fayetteville, AR,; 2 great-grandsons; Andrew and Caleb Porta of Fayetteville, AR, and several loving cousins, nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be 3:00 P.M. Saturday, March 20, 2010, in the sanctuary of the First United Methodist Church, under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. Private family graveside will be Monday, March 22, 2010 at the Fort Smith National cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Brock Schulte, Luke, Ben, and Tyler Brockman, Gabe Porta, and Chris Ramsey.

Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Gleaners Sunday school class and the Pacesetters.
