Louis A W Crais, III was born September 29, 1923, in Baton Rouge, LA, to Lillie Wilson Crais and Louis A W Crais, Jr., he passed away Wednesday January 22, 2014 at the age of 90. Having lived in Baton Rouge since 1923, Louis graduated from Baton Rouge High School. He entered the U.S. Navy Air Force Command in the Pacific Theatre of Operation during WWII and served as a radio operator and gunner on a Navy SBD5, and was honorably discharged in 1945. Louis A W Crais, III was born September 29, 1923, in Baton Rouge, LA, to Lillie Wilson Crais and Louis A W Crais, Jr., he passed away Wednesday January 22, 2014 at the age of 90. Having lived in Baton Rouge since 1923, Louis graduated from Baton Rouge High School. He entered the U.S. Navy Air Force Command in the Pacific Theatre of Operation during WWII and served as a radio operator and gunner on a Navy SBD5, and was honorably discharged in 1945. Louis and his high school sweetheart, Shirley McGee McDaniel, were married while he was on leave, April 30, 1945, at the First Methodist Church in Baton Rouge, LA. After his discharge from the service, Louis worked for Standard Oil Co, Ethyl Oil Corp, and EBR Sheriff's Office retiring in 1980, and finally retiring from American Bank in 1990. While working for the EBR Parish Sheriff's Office, he was invited to attend the U.S. Secret Service of Questioned Documents seminar where he was trained as a document examiner, and handwriting analysis expert for the EBR Parish Sheriff's Office. He was the first law enforcement officer from Louisiana to receive that honor. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Shirley Magee McDaniel Crais. Louis is survived by three children, daughter Suzanne A. Crais-Johnson and husband John H. Johnson, sons Tom W. Crais, Robert G. Crais and wife Judy L. Crais, and one sister Barbara Ann LeBlanc Waguespack and husband Jim Waguespack. Four grandchildren, Jeff Crais, Angela M D Brabham and husband Jay J. Brabham, April C. Weber and husband David Weber and Aaron Crais, along with eight great-grandchildren Andon, Madison, Jordyn, and Logan Brabham; Amelia, Judah, Annalise, and Evangeline Weber. Nieces and nephews, Joan LeBlanc, Judy LeBlanc Martin and husband Kevin Martin, John LeBlanc and wife Anita, Becky and husband Bill Couvillion, and Rod Bridgeman and wife Peggy. Visitation will be Sunday January 26, 2014 at Greenoaks Funeral Home 9595 Florida Blvd. from 5pm to 8pm. Visiting continues at the funeral home on Monday January 27, 2014 from 10am till service time at 12pm. Interment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
