Lannie Howard Pope, 63, of Hickory, passed away Friday, June 6, 2014, after fighting a long battle with cancer, at Catawba Regional Hospice, Newton. Lannie was born Dec. 16, 1950, in Catawba County, to the late Paul and Louise Lail Pope. Surviving are his brother, Kyle Pope and wife Rita; nephew, Nicholas; and his beloved, Martha Batchelor. No services will be held. Condolences may be made online at www.hickoryfh.com. Memorials may be made to Catawba Regional Hospice, 3975 Robinson Rd., Newton, NC 28658. The Pope family is in the care of Hickory Funeral Home.
