I worked in a hair salon with Larry in Denver for several years. He was a dear friend. He loved people and also one of my favorite memories is that he got to go see Elvis Presley in Vegas. I remember him telling all of us how great that was. Marcia, I am sorry for your loss and you and your family are in my prayers.

Thank you all for writing down your memories and condolences for us. It is wonderful to read how dad touched each and every one of you.
One of my memories of my dad and his crazy behavior is when I was standing in the bathroom one morning getting ready for school. I was curling my hair in front of the mirror and standing on the bathroom area rug. All of a sudden I went crashing to the floor! My dad had thought he could whip the rug out from under me and I'd stay standing! That was not the case at all! He could hardly apologize because he was laughing so hard he was crying! After my anger subsided, it was rather hilarious!
I will treasure this and many other memories of dad and really enjoy hearing from you all!
Thank you!

Marcia and family,

So glad Mom and I could be there!

Larry used to cut my hair, and we had our little routine, like I suspect many of us had. I would sit down and he would ask me what we were doing today. I would say "You can do anything you want as long as I leave here looking like Robert Redford!" (Not a chance) He would look confused, raise his hands and wave them around a little and say "I'm done!" Then he would do what he could, but I never left even remotely looking like RR, tho I always did look better. He was a funny guy and we will miss him a lot!

Dear Marcia, You have my sympathy on the death of Larry. His obit was in the Northwestern. Wish I was there to share one of the many cups of tea we used to drink together. Reading the obit. made me realize that we are no longer many miles apart. I have a cottage at Eagle River. Small world. Hope old memories bring a smile to your face in your time of sorrow.

I'm so happy that I made that call to Larry, only two weeks ago, to see if, by chance, he could cut Gary's hair. Even though he explained that he was no longer able to give his "expert" cuts, he was his usual buoyant self. He used to come to our house with his scissors! In the summer he'd give Gary his clip outside so that we did not have to sweep up hair. We loved his visits and the engaging conversation, which always centered on our mutual faith in Jesus Christ. His passing would be so sad if it were not for the truth of words by the great Bible commentator, Matthew Henry: "The happiness of the future state is what God has prepared for those that love him: everlasting habitations!" Larry now dwells in that eternal habitation! In that we rejoice. Our prayers now are for Marcia and the family, that they be peacefully sustained during this difficult time.

Larry would bless us quite frequently at the Diner in the mornings with his goofy glasses and off the wall sayings, His most famous saying when asked how he was; his reply would be; super duper hunky wunky triple luper. You are missed dearly. Mike, Dave, Amy, Ward and Krissy (Dinky Diner)

Dear Marcia,
When I last saw you 10 years ago I could see what a special relationship that you and Larry had. As I lost my husband 8 years ago, I can only say that true love never dies. My thoughts are with you and special friends are always special.

We were so sad to hear of Larry's passing. We have such fond memories of him. He was one of those people who always left you smiling! When my kids were young, Larry had his hair salon on Brown St. We always did all of our errands when we'd come to town for homeschool group, so my kids were always along for my hair cuts. They would usually have their Pound Puppies & Pound Purries along.
The kids & Larry had this great game going. Larry would slyly put one or two of the little critters in hiding places when the kids “weren't looking”. Once we had left, Larry would package them up and mail them home to us! It was on ongoing game for quite some time. What fun!! Larry was a kid at heart and will be missed.
Prayers to you all. We will see him again & he will have this huge grin on his face!

To the family of Larry, I was his loan officer from Winnebago Community CU in Oshkosh WI. While I never met Larry in person we did have conversations on the phone. He was very proud of his family and especially his grandchildren. I am saddened at his death as I will miss our conversations over the phone. He was always upbeat and happy. May the memories carry you through at this time.

For many women, like myself, Larry was the "other" man in my life; as a hairdresser that is. We often discussed Packer football and spiritual things. He will always hold a special place in my heart. Behold my friend the arms of Christ hold you securely!
