Larry Eugene Davis, 67, of Montpelier, IA; passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Genesis East Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 27, 2014 at 12:00 pm at the Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be Thursday, from 4-7 pm at the mortuary. Burial will be in Montpelier Cemetery, Montpelier, IA. Online condolences may be left at www.rungemortuary.com. Larry was born June 23, 1947 in Hopkinton, IA, the son of Arthur and Florence (Balsinger) Davis. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He was united in marriage to Myra Kemper on January 2, 1969 in Rock Island, IL.

He had worked in the maintenance department at Frank Foundries in Davenport and at Sivyer Steel in Bettendorf. He served as fire chief for the Montpelier Fire Department for several years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and gardening.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Myra; his children: Tom (Beth) Davis; Troy (Shelly) Davis, both of Montpelier and Teresa (Shawn) Partridge, Muscatine; grandchildren: Stephanie, Tyler, Tate and Madison; great granddaughter, Ella; brothers and sisters: Gerald (Wilma) Davis, Montpelier; Delores Nefzger; Arthur (Melody) Davis, Julie (Al) Davis and Calleen (Don) Hesseltine, all of Davenport and Alvin (Rosie) Davis, Centerville, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Vernon and a sister, Sharon.
