Professor Hoff, was not only a great teacher and excellent resource, we were at the beginning of what I hoped would become a friendship which would transcend school and develop us both as Emergency Managers and members of our community.
God only takes the good ones first.
I will miss him more than I will ever really know.

Col Hoff was the instructor for my Combating Terrorism course when I was working towards my Master's at then Touro University. I was able to meet him and his wife over coffee at Dyess AFB in May 2011. We talked for quite awhile and it was like I'd known him for years.
We have lost a great American, but the citizens in Heaven have another fine member!

Even though i was unable to attend the service i will always remember Colonel Hoff in my heart. He was a great man and he was like a father to many of the ROTC cadets of Monroe Area, Loganville, and Walnut Grove High Schools. He was an inspiration to all and he was a great friend, father, husband, son, and brother to his fellow soldiers. He influenced me in ways that i cannot begin to completely fathom all that he has done, not only for me, but for all American citizens.

Col Hoff was not only my son's ROTC instructor, but he was a great influence in my son's life. He was also a great influence to me. He encouraged everyone he met to be a better person just by being himself. Col Hoff is truly one of the most honorable people I have ever met. I was very blessed to have known him. Larry and Linda became true friends to my entire family.

Throughout my life I have met people who have changed me, among them there are few have influenced my life. One of these few is Col. Larry Hoff. At the age of 14 I had no idea what I was going to do in my life. I joined the ROTC because it sounded like an interesting thing to do at the time. I never intended to remain in or even become an officer in the ROTC. Col Hoff however, motivated me to do everything I have done today. When he retired and left the ROTC I had done everything I could to hold up the standards he had left. The standards he had taught us became precious and dear to us. In doing this I realized he had left us his legacy. Knowing this, he still to this day influences my life by using his legacy to create my own. He then helped me to become what I am now a soldier in the US Army. Thank you Col. Larry Hoff.
With Love

Thank you, Dr. Hoff, for inspiring me with your words in thoughtful, compassionate feedback -- which I saved, and keep in my heart always.
For years you were my only Professor and so I kept your brilliant smiling photograph on my desk, Sir; reminding me to shine with truth through buffed intellect, and "to honor and glory may our perseverance end". Thank you for the connection and bonds you made here, even with mere me (an online student of yours), my good and kind teacher, Professor, and friend -- I always felt.
May God bless you in your passing, Sir -- and for having answered my every email with earnestness, human heart, and ploy for a better future by your teaching, inspiring, and believing in me.

I am so sorry for your loss, may the good memories be there for you. I was never honored to meet Professor Hoff, but he was my instructor for two of my final courses and he helped me so much with his positive attitude, his knowledge and mostly with his encouraging words of advice. He always seemed to be there for us students and he will be truly missed. God Bless you and your family.

My most sincerest and earnest heartfelt condolences for the family, friends, professional acquaintances and I must include myself being a former graduate student of Dr. Hoff. I was just speaking of Dr. Hoff Wednesday, night 10.26.2011 to my brother and sister- in-Christ after Bible study, how the Lord used Dr. Hoff in my life to make miracles happen. I have also been ill and working towards regaining my health and he always encouraged and inspired me. To date I have his words hanging in front of my desk as I am still "pressing forward" (Dr. Hoff's exact words) to complete my graduate degree in spite of setbacks and delays caused by physical maladies. I shall never forget the blessing I received in knowing him; truly it was a most incredible honor! The blessing is that I know it is not good bye as I will see him again and actually for the first time but it will be eternal! May God bless you and keep you in His loving and comforting arms throughout the days ahead as I know he will be incredibly missed. I am just blessed to have his words resonate in my heart, mind and soul to "press forward" and now he has.
Sincerely,
Mary Ann Best-Rabonza/M.S.H.S.c/Public Health

My condolences to the Hoff family for the loss of the Colonel. I learned a lot from most airforce officers as a paratrooper and how important getting flying time in which didn't seem very important to me at the time, early 1965. But to be the witness to the accuracy and bravery shown by airforce pilots like Mr. Hoff
