Larry Jacobson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 30, 2012.

The family of Larry L. Jacobson mourns the death, and celebrates the life, of an extraordinary man who forever touched the lives of those he met. Born in Los Angeles, California on May 9, 1928 to Lloyd "Jake" and Julia Marie (nee Anderson) Jacobson, Larry died on the morning of September 30, 2012 in Bowie, Maryland, at age 84, after a brief illness. Following his graduation from George Washington High School, Larry served with distinction in the United States Army as a soldier in the 160th infantry in South Korea. Upon returning to Los Angeles, Larry married Nancy Ann Crown in 1952 and embarked on a career in the sales division of Goodyear Tire & Rubber. He and Nancy raised three children as they moved from California, to Washington, and then east to Andover, Massachusetts where they spent over 20 years. Larry subsequently joined Way Distributors, Inc. in the early 1970s and was responsible for their international manufacturing and sales effort. Following his divorce and retirement, Larry maintained homes in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts and St. Croix, USVI where he made multitudes of good friends, pursued his passion for gardening, and continued his unyielding support for both the Patriots and the Red Sox. Larry's pride and joy was forever with his three children, Mike (Linda), Ann (Louis) and Robin, as well has with his six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Larry will be missed greatly. We will think of him when we see brilliant flowers, swim in the Caribbean among crashing waves, drink cans of Coca Cola, and listen to the voice of Andy Williams and the music of Kenny G. Larry – you were, and continue to be, one of the nicest guys who ever graced the planet. In addition to his children and grandchildren, he is survived by his sister, Bonnie Werts and a host of nieces and nephews and loving friends. Family and friends will gather at the Robert E. Evans Funeral Home, 16000 Annapolis Road, Bowie, MD on Sunday, October 7, 2012 from 1 p.m. until time of service at 2 p.m. Interment is private. Memorial contributions may be made to AMEN (Arlingtonians Meeting Emergency Needs), PO Box 7429, Arlington, VA 22207 or to a charity of your choice.

To Larry's Children:
I had the great pleasure of knowing your
Dad many years ago. He was the kindest, sweetest, fun-loving, and most generous man. Although we did not keep in touch, I've thought of him often. He had such a wonderful way about him. I was trying to locate him to say "thank you" and came across his obituary. I'm so sorry it was too late.
Please accept my sincere condolences. Your Dad was a great man! xoxo Carol

Dear family, my condolences for the loss of your loved one. It is with great sadness that I write these words to you. I can say I knew him through the eyes of my friend Robin, who adored her father and allowed us into his beautiful life with loving stories of her childhood as well as those wonderful vacations spent in St. Croix with the girls. May those memories be a comfort to you.

To Larry: Many thanks for the Frye boots, Wright Arch Preservers, and most of all, your friendship. I have fond memories of time spent at Woburn and Chestnut Streets and think of your family often on my travels through the old neighborhoods. You and Nancy were like a second set of parents. You will be missed by many.
