VIRGINIA BEACH – Larry Thomas Neal, Jr. "Tommy", 42, went home to be with The Lord on February 24, 2013 after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was born on July 8, 1970 to Larry T. Neal, Sr. and Lena F. Walker in Portsmouth, VA.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah H. Neal; daughter, Jordan A. Neal, 10 years old; father and step-mother, Larry and Nell Neal; mother and step-father, Lena and Richard Walker; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Mrs. Frances Haddock, and Mr. William A. Haddock; fraternal grandparents, Mrs. Eunice Neal and Mr. Dixie B. Neal, respectively.
Tommy was a loving and devoted husband to his beloved wife and a wonderfully loving father to his beautiful daughter. He had many remarkable accomplishments with anything that he set out to do. His career was in the field of information technology where he became a 'blue screen' master otherwise known as a computer wizard. His passion was sport fishing in the warm Gulf Stream waters off the east coast. His dream was to captain his own charter boat one day. He was an avid golfer and could give any professional golfer a great match. Tommy came to The Lord with his baptism at Rock Church in 2004.
A funeral will be held this Saturday, March 2, at 11am with a visitation one hour prior at the Rock Church, 640 Kempsville Road, Va. Beach, VA 23464. Burial will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park, 601 North Witchduck Road, Va. Beach, VA 23462. A reception to celebrate Tommy's life will be held at the Cavalier Golf and Yacht Club, 1052 Cardinal Road, Va. Beach, VA 23451 beginning at 2:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, you may make a contribution to the American Cancer Society, http://www.cancer.org/ or an organization very close to Tommy's heart, Cerebral Palsy of Virginia http://www.cerebralpalsyofvirginia.org/.

Tommy, Sara & Family,
Each time we gather at a birthday party for the kids a huge part is missing, that is you and Sara and your daughter. In the years I knew you,you always where so respectful, loving and kind. The world changed the day you left us,so did HEAVEN, God had a special need for you there! I know it is hard on your Mom & Dad each time we gather, as I am sure it raises a flood of memories. God has guided and strengthened them, I think since that day one year ago, we ALL look at life differently! REST IN PEACE, you will never be forgotten..Sharon/Justins Mom

It is so challenging to fathom this once 6-year old boy becoming such an incredible man and then leaving you so soon. Yet, we know that we all belong to our Father in Heaven and are only on this earth temporarily. There is consolation in knowing that Tommy rests with our Abba Father in Glory. I pray that the Lord's comfort and peace dwell in your hearts as each day comes. May God bless and keep you.

Dear Family, The last time I spoke with Tommy,he was arriving in Texas for treatments.I never dreamt this and I have prayed for you Sarah and Jordan especially for he was constant in your lives expectant to be there. I believe God evidently needed Tommy's strength and determination and the term 'please be patient God isn't finished with me yet' fits here. Tommy and I have been friends since junior high school at the Alliance Christian School and he is irreplacable. I love you all as much as I love him. I pray comfort over all loved ones. Sincerely always a friend, Beth Kirk 7572925347

Dear Sarah and Family, I just learned of Tommy's passing and I'm so very sorry for your loss. I met Tommy just before you were engaged and looking for the townhouse. The most that I remember was he was so in love and couldn't wait to share his life with you. He was so sweet and you could tell he was so happy and excited during that time. What a great loss and how lucky he was to have you by his side during his courageous fight. My heart is heavy from the news , may God give you comfort during this time.
